Backup dont work :"(

Guys,

I would really appreciate some help with this if any one has any ideas....

Ive had a 9210 for about 6 weeks.... I seemed a little dodgy - as I gather did all machines of this time... crashed on install etc.... The main thing that bothered me was that it wouldnt back up... gave me an error message every time. I installed updated PC Suite from the website - still the same problem. I rang nokia who explained that it was most likely a version problem with the firmware on the Nokia - so I get this updated. After a very dodgy file copying way of backing up ... I sent it off - and it returned today - all problems fixed... - I *wish*.

The machine still refuses to back up, giving the same error.

'A problem occured while backing up because the backup record cannot be assessed.'

Also I am unable to back it up to the MMC as this too crashes / gives errors.

Does anyone have any suggestions - If I cant back it up - I wont feel happy to use it - and am currently seriously thinking of taking it back and getting a iPaq - at least I know that will work!

Thanks for your time.

OK, heres a little extra I forgot.

I have spoken to about 5 or 6 nokia help guys - and they havent a *clue*. One even told me that this was an inherant problem and that nothing could be done about it. Arrrgg!! User posted image

Do you want to get back your files to the communicator or from communicator to PC?

What kind of error??? it would help a lot..
seems that backup cant shut down all progs so you have to kill them by yourself..
give me that error code and i hopefully can help better.

Best way to backup at now is MMC because PcSuite is slow and unreliable..

Guys,

Thanks for your interest.

The problems with backing up to the MMC are that certain files are open... and, I cant find what these files are - closing Contacts and Calendar (Killing them the psion way...) appears to make no difference to this.

That said I feel uncomfortable backing up to MMC - I would really like a copy on my PC as this is the way I have worked with my Series 5.

The error I occur on the pc is the one I quoted in my first post, and this occurs during the end of the 'Analyzing' stage of the backup procedure.

Thanks again.
