what is the model that u r using?

to check , key in *#0000# and as for the upgrade in US, i don't know as i am not resident there. check out the website www.nokia.com for the service centre locations.

when I try to input #0000# all i get is "Request not Completed". So am i completely out of luck with upgrading firmware?

Thanks, I found out that i have v3.45.110. If it's not firmware, why do I have a call timer that overlaps the name display and no "settings" option in my phonebook?

just a cable??? dont need a 400 dollar box like tornado???

you can use a lpt1 cable not com. but the easiest way is the box, because u can just buy it, the lpt cable you would have to make

I am in the USA and use a flasher to upgrade the firmware of my 6630. Obviously, I did not want to spend $400 on the box, but I couldn't find any other way. I e-mailed Nokia USA who referred me to Nokia International. Nokia International told me that they would not support it at all because the phone was "international", and I could not get the firmware upgraded in the USA.

I do not believe that you can make a cable to perform this function. Even if you could, you would need the firmware files as well as the firmware upgrade program, which is based on Phoenix.

I was able to upgrade my firmware to v 4.03.18, dated 4-03-05. I can tell you that the restart problem (the reason behind the firmware upgade) has stopped completely. I also like the functionality of being able to chose between 3G or GSM only to save battery power.

If you have any more questions, e-mail me.

u said u didnt want to spend 400 bucks on a box...u did manage to updated...with what?

I didn't want to spend $400, but I spent a lot more than that on the phone which kept restarting, so I bought the flasher box.
