OK,
Been fiddling with this for some time now. Early on I posted something like "now if only I could get Agile Messenger to work this would be the perfect phone for me..."
Well, I got it! This may not be the great mews to some of you as it is to me, but I know there are many others out there that have had the "charging" problem after installing Agile. Here is what I have done to get mine working on a VODAFONE handset.
Find yourself a copy of the version 3.13 installation file (PM me and I can email it to you if need be). Install to your phone mem and you should be fine. If you are able to, i would first "register" all your services using a pass through connection, then disconnect, reboot and try it now via GPRS.
By doing the above I now have Agile (allbeit the not-so-new version, but the only one that works for me) installed with NO charging problem and NO connection issues. The only
niggle is that it will prompt you for the "newer version" upon
connection and there are not as many features. The upgrade prompt seems to go away after you ignore it after several starts.
Let me know if it works for you - does for me. This still does not explain why we can't get a voda to work with the latest version 😞
Kev, Stu? Thoughts?
For those of you out there with this application already running fine I would be interested in knowing what versoin you are running and what "version" of the X you have (eg. Vodafone, Expansys, etc...).
Good luck!

A nice piece of work, Mark. Its currently installed on my phone with absolutely no charging weirdness whatsoever. If an admin guy skims through here whould it be possible for us to post up this particular version (AFAIK it is freeware).
Mas - glad it is working for you. I have had it running all day concurrently with profimail with only one hickup - some obscure message about "retry or data will be lost". pushing the right softkey (ok) resulted in the phone rebooting itself. other than that, no problems at all. will continue to work this and post up the results.
fwiw, i consider myself a "power user" in that i use every aspect of the device to it's fullest ability - eg. running multiple tasks concurrently while accessing both data and making calls. so far, so good.
OK - you guys seem really techie! ... can anyone tell me if there is a way to get MSN messenger running - without being charged. I need to chat to a friend in Ireland who has MSN messenger. I dont have the net at home and I dont have a phone line, therefore I rely on my mobile for everything. Call rates to Ireland are over 1p/m.
HELP - Would be so happy if anyone can sort this. I will also sing the X's praises forever StuClark!!!
Sadly, there's no way to avoid phone charges. When using Agile on your Sendo, you use either GPRS or GSM to connect to the internet. These can be considerably cheaper than the 1/min phone call. I would recommend GSM as you get charged by the length of time you're online whereas with GPRS, you are charged by the amount you download and with something like MSN, this can build up very quickly. To get all the relevant connection settings, go to www.sendo.co.uk/support and click on OTA configuration. After answering a few questions, the website will send the details you need to you phone. Save them and you're ready to go.
@Mas - by GSM are you referring to DCS GPRS? I am not familiar with a "GSM" connection (less the network itself).
@MAJ25 - you can use MSN messenger on Agile Messenger (it is like Trillian for the PC). You will be charged for your connection (GPRS for example) which may be cheaper than a phone call. I know my service plan allows me to pay and additional $4.99 USD for unlimited GPRS connections... but I am in the states on T-Mobile. Does your provider offer anything like that?
Mark - do you remember old dial up connections using a 56K modem? That is essentially what GSM is. Most carriers these days use GPRS as it tends to be much faster and more expensive. I'm not too familiar with US networks - maybe one of our transatlantic friends can help...
Mas - roger, i do and i think we are talking the same thing but naming it different. the "dcs t-zones" for me is a dial-up connection and it uses minutes... does the same as gprs just slower speed... so yes, we are talking the same thing 😊
your X still humming with agile? i am on a backup T610 today - left the X at home to rest. just applied a screen protector last night and want it to cure all the way.
Yep - ticking along nicely.
OK so I'm gonna go with the GSM setting, what sort of charges are we talking about on UK Voda per/min and is this likely to be included in my monthly tariff - 200 mins free call and 500 free texts
Data calls are never part of the montly package - while the phone does dial up a phone number, the call transmits packets of data rather than sound and due to this, the network can bill you seperately. From what I remember though, Vodafone does have some good data tariffs with a certain amount of inclusive data - it may be worth dropping into your local branch.
