new bug here......

.

I don't think anyone reported this, but

[let's say you just cleared the phone's memory for whatever reason]

if you accidentally set the incorrect time to a future date.....

.... receive a call during this incorrectly dated settings,

then change it back to the correct time,

..... then receive another phone call, missed call or whatever,

....your NOW! screen will not be updated in the call log area. I assume that only when you pass the previous incorrect-but-future-set time will the call log in NOW! pane can be updated properly.

Unfortunately, after backing up your phone to SD memory and clearing the "5" key, then restoring from SD memory to the phone restores the incorrect call log that was set in the future, with no way of resetting.

Why would restoring from the SD memory card restore/retain the incorrect call log in the NOW! pane??

Or why would the backup procedure retain this inactive info in the NOW! pane?

hmmmm....

.

Seems to me the best way to avoid this problem is to set the date while next to your PC - then that way you check the correct date on the PC and enter it on the phone. Problem solved.

I am aware of a few problems with the now screen, especially with memory card based apps. Apparently, though, the latest firmware should address quite a few of these.

This is not a bug, you'll receive the same problem with call registers on pretty much any phone if you set the date / time to be in the future, then subsequently reset it.

How is the phone meant to know if you've set the date wrong?

The reason the "problem" comes back after a restore is because the phone backs up ALL it;s data during a backup, including the call log data. Once again, it's not the phone's fault if the user chooses to backup something which is clearly wrong!

Nope, not a bug, but a simple by-product of setting the wrong date. You'll get exactly the same behaviour with SMS messages as well.

SO you are saying that back up my photos and such using BROWSE in the Sendo Connect Software?

I am thinking of going in the .ini files to find the value of the registered entry.

Also, because you reset your phone in critical times, does not mean you are nearby your PC or anything....

BAD RESPONSE ON YOUR PART

Ok - to be really pedantic about these things - be near another method of keeping time such as a public clock or a wristwatch. The only reason I suggested a PC is because it has the most accurate method of time keeping.

No, what I'm saying is that you can't consider a phone's ability to remember a time / date stamp as a bug. Just because the user does not enter the correct date / time, that's not the phone's fault!
