My Vodafone Nightmare....

Hi all,

Just another story to confirm just how poor Vodafone really are. I currently have a Nokia 6630 and apart from the usual restrictions they've imposed, I was happy with my phone and service. Until now......

It started about a month ago. My battery seems to be on the way out and doesn't hold the charge for long anymore. I logged a call with Vodafone and they said that they would need to send a complete handset over and exchange it with my phone because they cannot just send out the battery which is obviously the problem.

For this to happen, I had to take a day off work, from my personal holiday. I couldn't get it delivered at work as it meant me staying at my desk all day which was not possible due to a lot of meetings.

So a day off work to sit at home doing nothing, can't even leave the house. Parceline arrive with my new phone to exchange. But its just a phone, no battery with it which is the whole point!

Phone up Vodafone, I was then told that they can just send out a battery, not the whole phone. This will come through the usual royal mail post so I wouldn't even have to be there for delivery. A whole week passed, no batttery. I rang up again and was told that they cannot just send out the battery, they need to do a handset exchange.

Another day off from work. Got to 3pm, nothing. Phone up, they said it should arrive the next day.

Another day off work. Got to 3pm, nothing. Then had a phone call from Vodafone saying its out of stock. I did not want to take anymore of my own holiday off so I changed the delivery to my work and would just have to work at my desk all the time.

Next day. No delivery. Had a phone call. Still out of stock. Then after the weekend, Monday morning at work. I had a delivery! Thank God!

But again, they sent me a new phone with no battery!!!!!!

By this time I was getting very hacked off. Phoned up to speak to their supervisor. Was advised I couldn't do that would need to write to Customer Complaint Dept. But she said in the mean time, she would send me the battery to my work address.

After hanging up, I realised, not only has the new phone got no battery but it doesn't even work properly. So now I have a phone that doesn't last long til it needs charging and I can't hear it when it rings/play music because it has no sound.

Rang up again and complained about this. Was told that a new phone and a new battery should arrive at work the next day.

Next day, had a card from Parceline saying they tried to deliver my phone to my home address but I wasn't in. Aaaaaaaaaagggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

Phoned up Vodafone, they said that they can order a new one and send it to my work address. But, they're currently out of stock so this could take 2 weeks or so!!

So now I've had to take another day off work and I'm currently awaiting Parceline to re-deliver the phone from yesterday.

Whats the betting that if it arrives, it will not have a battery!!!!!

Hope nobody else has had such a crap time with them!

Why not just buy a new battery for ~20 in the first place, and keep the old one charged up as a spare?

what a shitty adventure :icon13:

my idea is to never by a branded phone ! i love my 6630 !

good luck anyways in the future :icon14: 😉 !

I didn't particularly want to pay for it if it was under warranty which I was told.

An update though, I had to go to the parceline depot to collect the phone myself. Surprise surprise, there was no battery.

But I was happy as I had a working phone again.

Rang up vodafone again to get a battery and they put me through to their parts department which they never did before and I was then told that the battery is not covered under warranty anyway!!! I have to go and get one from the shop and buy it myself.

I thought this was strange as I had the exact same problem with a 6600 and they had the battery replaced with no problem as it was under a year old and all nokia phones have a year warranty.

I've just received a phone call from someone in the complaints department telling me that this isn't under warranty either. But she said I can buy myself a new battery and she will send me the money for it. She also said that I will have a 50% discount on my line rental for 3 months, so thats not too bad!

Problem Solved!

that sounds awful.

I like my nokia unbranded with no network "extras" and sometimes faults, hence I pay more by buying sim free.

You always have to whait a insane ammount of time when its about free servecis such as warranty-releated services. If I were you, Id just would have bought the battery in the first place, its not _that_ much money, tottaly worth it compared to what youve been through.

Thats quite a coincidence, coz my 6630 had aproblem with losing a charge, so I rang Vodafone, who told me that they would send me out a replacement handset, battery and charger. But i wasn't there to do the exchange, when I did get home I had a new phone and charger, but no battery. So I rang them and was told they had no batteries in stock etc etc. So I had to wait a week to get one which was sent by courier!!!!!!!! even though it was gonna be sent by post. But I never got told that the battery was not under warranty and I made quite a few calls to different people

So does that mean you ended up with two handsets or did you have to exchange your old one? That would have been a bonus if you did!

No, no such luck with that, it would have been a great bonus. And guess what, tonight my phone has locked on 3g for last 4 hours with no signal at all !!!!!!!!!!! so thats another phone call. I have just looked on their web site and they have the 6680 but not on 3g.. What is the point???????
