Can you compare the two different Sonic emulators? It is great to have so many options but a little confusing for those of us who are familiar with the different models and projects.

Ok. Well, I have purchased SonicBoy and I was the alpha/beta tester of Picodrive so I have tried both emulators extensively. To put it simple; Picodrive is much superior. Not only because the Megadrive/Genesis is newer and has better graphics (16-bit vs. 8-bit system) than the Master System/Game Gear, but mostly because WildPalm has been sloppy with the beta testing of SonicBoy. SonicBoy has been prematurely released, in my opinion. It is buggy, the sound is way too loud even on the lowest sound setting, the screen area isn't properly utilised etc. It's a shame really, as I was really looking forward to the release of SonicBoy. I have contacted WildPalm about some of the issues, so hopefully they will update the application, some day...

On the other hand you have Picodrive which is stable, the games run smoothly, it has a 'stretch' mode taking advantage of the screen resolution and it is free. 😊 The Sega Megadrive/Genesis also gives you a greater selection of games to choose from. There is no sound emulation in Picodrive though, and probably never will be, as it isn't supported in the core. Even if sound was added it would only work in a very limited number of games and would severely slow down the games.

I've been having trouble getting picodrive to play the ROMs I want to play mind. Not tried SonicBoy as I never really found many games I enjoyed on MasterSystem/GameGear.

Which ROMs are you having troubles with, Switch? Not all games are compatible... One of my all time favourite games; The Lost Vikings doesn't work properly. 😞

Phantasy Star series don't seem to work 😞 Similar troubles with Shining Force.

I'm an RPG fan at heart.

Tell you what I would like, a port of eCast to the 9500. Love to use some of my Atari ST games on the move, Frontier Elite 2 on my mobile, I'd be in heaven.
