Ask for lock code when rebooted?

5 replies · 2,365 views · Started 13 May 2005

Hello,

I believe my 9300 used to ask for the lock code (and the PIN number) when I reboot by removing the battery and reinserting it. It just doesn't do it anymore! It only asks for the PIN number now! Any ideas? Am I missing something or was I dreaming?

I have the following security settings and I'm runing system ver. 4.53:

Autolock period: None
Lock code: *****
Lock if SIM card is changed: on
Allow remote locking : Yes

Remote locking works.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Answer the question with a question?! 😊

It's simple. Go to Control Panel > Security > Device security and enable "Allow remote locking" and set a password or a phrase.

Now if you send a sms to *your* phone containing that phrase it will lock the phone and acknowlege that with a reply to you (to the phone you used to send the sms from).

Just keep in mind that the MMC card is locked with the first 8 characters of the password you set.

I hope this helps.

It will ask for the lock code only if you insert a different SIM card.
