How can I use P910i in Japanese?

Hi everybody!

I recently bought P910i and am satisfied with this machine. I've heard P910i is Symbian OS machine and unicode compatible. Since I'm Japanese native speaker, how can I use Japanese character on it? I'm Mac user, too.

For a device being Unicode based, it still needs a lot more than that for Japanese language support... Minimally a font file (or files) with Japanese characters, and an input method editor to enter Japanese text + the phone needs support for user-installable fonts and input methods (or you won't be able to put them on the phone).

I don't know if these exist for that phone.

Beyond that, it may be necessary to also modify many applications for proper Japanese language support (if just having a font and input method is not enough).

Easiest would be, if Sony Ericsson offered a firmware version with Japanese language support. You could ask them. However, as the phone doesn't work in Japan at all, it is not likely that they have such.

The onlly thing I'd like to do with p910i is to read Japanese text or e-mail. If it's very complicated, I give up writing (inputting) Japanese character on P910i.

Thanks, Katzu
