Synchronization Challenged 9500 - Problem with full description...

4 replies · 4,723 views · Started 23 May 2005

Since no particular event or installation that I recall my 9500 has been failing to synchronize....

The settings (USB cable etc have been checked and are OK so far I can see).
The PC Suite has been removed and reinstalled but no fix.
Several PC restarts and 9500 battery removals have also taken place.
(firmware is the original 4.44)
Please note that backups and file transfers work fine! Synchronization properties appear OK.
Description of the problem following synchronization is as follows....

When I try to do so I get on the PC window:

*****************************
Opening Databases, Waiting for mobile phone to send data
*****************************

Both devices (PC & Commie) display the rolling synch logo
Then, first the PC gives up with:

******************************
Synchronisation Completed 0 Entries Updates
******************************

With the report stating

******************************
Warnings 1
The following warnings were produced during the synchronisation:
PC Sync information.
******************************

Which when clicked it displays:

******************************
PC Sync information.
The mobile phone has not responded.
Possible Solution
Please ensure your phone is in the Idle state showing your network provider's logo, then restart the Synchronisation.
******************************

Then the 9500 gives up with
************************
"Synchronization was interrupted before any data was sent to the server"
*************************

Then, in the 9500 Synchroization Log I get:
******************************
"PC Suite Profile" Date nn/nn/nn Time: nn:nn:nn
System Unable to find the specified Object
Contacts(c:/System/Data/Contacts.cdb)
Synchronization was interrupted before any data was sent to server
******************************

Please note that the file does exist and that I went to the synch profile settings (Content TAB) and re-defined the specific file by browsing to it without luck....
The contacts file (through the contacts db works fine)

Any ideas?!!!!

Thank you,

Gregory.

2 suggestions:

a) Reset your synchronisation settings:
In 9500 go to Desk -> Tools -> Sync and in Tools menu select "Reset PC Suite profile".
Connect 9500 to PC.
In PC Sync Properties select "Create new configuration", select contents to sync and use default settings.
Now start sync from PC Sync and see how it goes

b) If you know that you might have huge amount of data in your 9500 (maybe you moved data from previous 9210 or otherwise ?)
Try removing old items until the problem disappears:
In Calendar open Tools menu and use Move/Delete to remove unnecessary items or move them to another database.
In Contacts select and delete all unnecessary items or move them to another database on memory card.

And try to sync from PC

I had exactly the same problem, after about 3 days of resetting the stupid thing I found that by deleting the PCSuite profile on the pc and recreating it I could successfully sync. I've been able to recreate the problem and fix it several times by just deleting the PCsuite profile and recreating it.

Hello,

Sorry for the stupid question, but can you help me locate where on the PC software do I delete this PCSuite profile you mention?

Im having the same "Unable to find the specified object" during sync on my brand new 9300...

Tks a lot,
Gustavo

This function disappeared with a recent upgrade. I used to have it with FW 4.55 (was that it? - something similar - I forget) then with 5.22 it was gone. And it definately is not in 6.27.

Maybe someone else here can say why it went - I can't remember.
