Go to Tools - Control panel - Messaging
Then select the mail account in question and change the internet access method (at the very bottom of the "General" tab)...
Hi, it took me a long time to figure out this simple solution: I have set up different accounts for 1. access by GPRS to Yahoo, 2. access by WiFi to Yahoo, 3. access by GPRS to GMail and 4. access by WiFi to GMail.
I have simply named these accounts G Yahoo, W Yahoo, G Gmail and W Gmail.
Works perfectly. However, I can't understand why Nokia don't offer a simple way of chosing the access. Yes, we can set that connection can be changed automatically but if EASY WLAN is selected and none is available, the batch processing stops right there.
Beste wishes from a trip in China!
Thanks guys I finally figured it out with your help! :icon14:
I experience the exact same thing.....
The phone is SUPPOSED to automatically switch between one connection method to another, when 'roaming' is on... you then specify in an other section what it should choose from......
Therefore....... I'm at home connected by Wifi....... the email connects via Wifi..... If i move out of range of the Wifi.... it Should AUTOMATICALLY use the GPRS connection i have specified....
However it does NOT work!! - It seems buggy & crap!
The WORKAOUND - (I call it this, as it is NOT a solution), is to set up multiple email accounts of the phone (as mentioned in the above post)... all pointing to the same remote mail servers, but each connecting in a different way....
A pain in the Ass really, as you end up with your email split up into multiple inboxes on the phone....
When i first noticed the 'problem' i even spoke to Nokia Cust Sup, & they COULDN'T get it to do as it was told either!!! - So definately a bug!
So come on Nokia SORT IT OUT!!! -- Why couldn't they have made it connect as seamlessly as the internet browser.... Fools!
