I have a need to upload a huge scanned image, of which i want to be able to scroll around small sections of it (to be precise, ita a roadmap...)
I would think its going to be in the region of 6000 x 6000 pixels, maybe even as high as 8000 x 8000, and i'll be scanning it in small pieces initially, then stitching it in Photoshop into one huge JPEG...
In a way, its a crude map viewer, as similar Symbian apps exist, but properly done, unlike my idea which is just a way of scrolling around on a small screen.
Any applications spring to mind?
You may have memory problems with something that big to be honest.
I imagine it might be worth checking out a few image applications to see how they perform (e.g. Resco Image Viewer).
Resco viewer will do the job.
thou at 6000x6000 the image would have an uncompressed size of 106meg
obviously as a jpg you can compress the file size but it will still be huge and will still de-compress to 106meg.
You may want to do a quick test to see what the biggest file size the phone can take before spending to much time on it...

Thanks for the replies...
How did you both calculate 106mb? You sound quite precise, is there a bit of maths to work out the file size???
Do you have a link to the viewer application, I might try a small sample of a size nearer 2000 x 2000 firstly to see how it goes?
open photoshop and create an image of 6000x6000
The uncompressed size will always be the same, it's the compression you apply that varies the size of each picture..
look in the shop and search for 'resco'

once completed you could 'print' it as a Repligo file this would allow you to move around, zoom what ever you want, and will be much smaller than an image.
