Hi,
I'm a new A1000 user and I'm trying to transfer data from my old nokia 9210i communicator..
Now: i tried the dire microsoft way, with a first 9210>Outlook synch and a
following Outlook>A1000 synch. Guess how it worked? I praised Lord_Bill_of_all_crashes and thought that, maybe, there could be a smarter way to transfer data from two Symbian-os devices without having to stick Windows-thru data conversions up my precious.
The main problem is that I don't even know what to look for on the internet...
Can anyone help?
Thank you and have a nice day..

Try exporting your contacts from the nokia as a file, then importing it to your A1000

😮
ok, I'm not much sure about how to do that, but I'll give it a shot..
Thanks a lot.... 😊

I managed to copy the contacts.cdb file from my 9210i but the A1000 won't let me paste it ...
It seems that the contacts application is "always on", so it's nearly impossible to do anything with the A1000 contacts file. I found a lot of ranting about opening backup sets and swapping system files before restoring, but my winrar can't open the .dat archives..
Any guess?

This is how I made a back up of my own contacts, you try and use the same procedure on the 9210i, if the options are available.
I had a go at exporting my contacts from my A920/5 Phone.
Go to Contacts, If you have your contacts in folders make sure Folders list is set to 'All'
Select the Option from the drop down Menu, 'Send this folder', this will create a file 'All.vcs', and ask you how you want to send it.
If you have Bluetooth on both Phones, send it that way.
Dont know if that will help or not, the only other way I can think of is to try some contact managing software.
SmartvCard - vCard manager for Nokia 9200
AGORA Plus: Contacts Manager for N9210/9210i/9290/9500/9300
Hope that helps

Thank you but my problem is quite the opposite: I can't copy the 9210 contacts file to my A1000 because the latter's contacts.cdb looks like a system file that can't be renamed, deleted or overwritten..
