Hi,
I've received my Sendo X 3 days ago and i'm quite happy with it appart from a big bug in the now! screen: the panes keep dispearing.
I had created 4 new panes and put links to all the applications in them. It took me ages to do that since the phone is so slow when adding a link but i though i would need to do that only once and for all. But guess what... half a day later, the phone crashed for no apparent reason and all my panes disappeared.
I took another half an hour of my time to recreate them and this time i backed up my phone with PC Connect after all was properly set up. It only took 2 hours for the phone to crash and all the panes (except the My Pane pane) to disapear again. So i did a full restore of the phone (another 30 minutes) but my panes didn't reappear 😞
So where do i go from there?
Thanks

Hi, I am surprised you are still happy with this phone.... why? Having a great day aren't you?
Well, the only remedy is to hold down "5" key on power up boot to completely erase your Sendo X memory. Then do a restore. This phone is nothing but panes and problems....

Well, i know that this device is more like a computer with a full blown OS than a phone and since i had already installed loads of third party crap (themes, applications, games, utilities...), i expected to have some crashes anyway. As long as i can find the reason for the crashes and fix the problems, i'm happy enough. I'll start to get angry if there seem to be no solutions at all.

That's what i did but then i found this post by plinkykev: http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/32703/
This says that it's not at all necessary to reformat your phone to get your panes back. All you have to do is delete the C:\System\Apps\Now\Panesettings.ini file, remove the battery and reboot. I've tried it and it worked.
The problem with this solution, as with the reformating solution, is that you don't get your customized panes back. You only get the origianl panes back. However, it's pretty easy to modify plinkykev solution to save and restore if necessary your Now! panes:
To save your Now! panes configuration:
1) Navigate to the C:\System\Apps\Now folder with a file browser application such as FExplorer or ProfiExplorer
2) Copy the file Panesettings.ini somewhere else on your phone. This is your backup copy
To restore your Now! panes if they have disappeared:
1) Navigate to the C:\System\Apps\Now folder and delete the Panesettings.ini file
2) Copy your backup file back in the C:\System\Apps\Now folder
3) Remove the battery and wait until the screen is switched off completely
4) Reboot and see all your custom Now! panes back at work
This solution works fine on my Sendo X. I'll see if i can make a small application to automate the process as it seems that quite a few people are having this problem

I forgot to mention that but it is obviously strongly advised to backup any important information that you have on your phone such as Contacts, calendar entries or messages and files before attempting the above described procedure.
Nice work, elp - copy what you've done here into the form of an FAQ question and append it to the FAQ thread.
