13 replies · 3,489 views · Started 30 May 2005

I dunno how it all started, but it began with my contacts. At first, I couldn't open my phonebook but everything else worked. Then, I couldn't open my phone book or dial any numbers or my phone would reboot. Finally, I couldn't access the menu, my phone, or dial any numbers. Can't connect the phone to my computer cuz the port on the phone seems to no work either. Can anyone help?

Can your phone start up? Can you input any number? Or your phone is tatally dark?
have you tried safe mode yet? By hold on the pen key + power on?

Well, I've seen a currently same topic in this forums yesterday, but so sorry that i really forget It's section. I think you can find it out yourself cause it is the only best way to fix with your problems.
Good luck !
Hope your 6630 be back to you!

The phone that we can not control the system's program, we have to format it by shortcut key. But you said you can not input any numbers.. This is also what i want to know how to solve it too

I've been looking all over and i haven't been able to find the thread you guys are talking about. Any specifics?

the prob is caused by virus, two solutions

hard reset or delete a file found in the dictionary folder, to do that you need a install a software that enable you to view those files.

hard reset would be easlier but you will lost all yr data

I posted this a couple of months ago, just copied and pasted it here

I've had this happen to me countless times now, I used to make sure I always had a recent backup of my phone using PC suite so that I could 1st reset the phone using the above method then restore my setting's from the back up. There is a better, much painless fix for that all too common problem, if you install Fexplorer on your phone (free software) - http://www.gosymbian.com/ - this allows you to browse all the files on your phone, the cause of the actual problem is a corrupt file which I believe is something to do with your text message dictonary, you need to delete this file and that in turn will fix your phone, all that you lose is the words you have manually added into your text message dictonary. the file you need to delete is C:\System\Data\PTIT9UDB0f.DAT.

I eventually got my phone replaced the replacement had a later firmware and I have not had the problem since.

Cant install any new software because the pop-port doesn't seem to work. How do I do a hard reset?

restart your phone and hold down all three of these keys, 'green answer key', '3' and '*' I used to hold them down for about 5 to 10 seconds while the screen was white, sometimes it didn't work and took 2 attempts, you know its worked when your asked to select your country upon startup

I'd recommend you install fexplorer so that when it happens again next time (and it will) you'll be able to fix the problem on the go and without too much inconvenience, just delete that file and it works, you dont even need to restart the phone, or if you want the problem fixed permanently take your phone to a carphonewarehouse and theyll upgrade your firmware for free.
