I've tried a few some have looked good and the audio has been a bit choppy others have ran fine but been a bit blured.
TIA

Masamune has been doing a lot of work recently on video and audio encoding for the X - he may be the best person to ask about this...
ive been playing with Smart Movie and ive found that it encodes and playes nice with
Video:
128kbps
Reduced Frames
Audio:
Mono
22050Hz
32kbps
but one thing i've noticed it that the video's all encode with a few blips here and there which is bugging me a little bit, does anyone know whats causes this or has the same issues.
Ive been using Pocket Divx encoder and and a customised smartphone profile.
I choose:-
Video
2 pass
15 fps
xvid codec
208x156 frame size
video quality 80kbps
Audio
32Khz
mono
32kbps
mp3
I'm getting excellent results and playback is very smooth. I still get the odd stutter when there is a lot of onscreen motion but otherwise quality is great.
I've been compressing King of the hill episodes (about 22 mins in length) to about 18 meg. I can fit loads on my 1gig sd card.
roy - what player do you use?
I use Smartmovie (ver 2.60)
Roygbiv wrote:I use Smartmovie (ver 2.60)you better update to 2.75, which is in fact a MAJOR improvement.
Btw: Why 208x156 frame size? The X-Screen is not capable viewing such big movies anyway ...
This IS interesting. I've been getting some really bad playback results for smartmovie - the only time I get smooth playback is with all sound disabled. It seems as though it's the sound aspect which has been casuing problems with all the different players I've tried - Viking DVD, Crystal Mobile, Smartmovie, Helix Player. In fact the only thing that seems to work for me is the Nokia Multimedia Converter. I'll have another look at Smartmovie with the settings you suggested above, but I can confirm that both Viking DVD and Crystal Mobile will not work with the X. Viking comes up with an Audio Codec error and Crystal mobile tries to fit a landscape screen into portrait mode by chopping it in half. I'll find a couple of different clips to try them with as well and once I have some definate answers I'll post them up on the SendoSmartphones website.
I thought the sendo x screen resolution was
Size 176px X 220px
so 208x156 is a good size and maintains 4:3 aspect ratio.
Btw I had indifferent playback with higher versions of smartmovie but 2.6 works great for me.

if i use pocket divX i can have a res of 208x176 and it plays it landscape... im going to try the settings you sujjested..
oh and im running SmartMovie 2.60 also.
Yes. I can definately verify that on my sendo with the latest firmware Smart Movie 2.6 performs flawlessly with the same clips I have encoded.
I just tried ver 2.72 and 2.75 and playback is ok but stutters every few seconds.
I'm going to try some 220x176 clips at 94kbps also.
the 220x176 frame size is too high. back to 208x156
