Ok - originally i lost the alert tone when i recieve a message & noticed that the nokia startup sound had dissapeared.
When turning off the phone & waiting approx. 10-20 seconds before punching in the code, it seemed to have corrected it...until now that is.
When i receive a message - there is no vibrate & no sound (yes it is setup correctly), i just seem to get a little envelope appearing in the top right. Then when i open messages - theres a star in the inbox indicating new message.
I have tried to set it back to factory settings (*# number) - didnt help.
Then i formated my phone (*# number) & it worked for a while, and now its playing up again.
Im not sure if personalising my profiles had anything to do with this and ive run out of ideas.
Any suggestions?

No message alerts
personalize ur profiles...make sure the ringing type is set to ringing...then,the ringing volume is set to maximum..make sure that ur vibrating alert is on..so does warning tones..change "alert for" from all calls to all..juz giv it a try..gud luck man..

Ringing volume = maximum
Vibrate alert = On
Warning tones = On
Alert for....
Ive only got one option here: All Calls
If i place a checkmark in the box - i can select Ok,
but when i take the checkmark off - it only displays cancel.
does it makes any difference?
unfortunately no change... :frown:
(forgot to mention) tried uninstalling all the apps as the other posts mention.
there was one app I couldnt uninstall cos it says its not closed - but i figured this was cos of the format as i cant even open the app now.
i think my only other option is that other format i heard them speak about:
Green, * 3 - Hard format
(havent tried this as I gather this is the mother of all formats 😮 and im not entirely sure what it does - but guess if it has to be done, theres no way around it)
As the others I tried were:
*#7780# - Reset to original settings
*#7370# - Soft format
..and they didnt fix the problem totally.
Hard format worked & i now have my alerts back again.
