I purchased a phone in the Philippines and when I got back to the states it seems to have corrupted software. The guy at the phone repair shop told me that is most likely it, but it is not available here yet. Can I download it so I can give it to him to reinstall to my phone? I wonder if it is software or firmware that I need? It only says sim card rejected and then insert sim. If not I know someone going back to the Philippines that will hopefully drop it off at the place I bought it and then they can mail it back to me.
Can I download new soft/firmware?

Maybe your phone is network locked. Check if your phone has a globe telecom or smart sticker.
It didn't have globe or smart, but I didn't use it with my smart gsm chip in Manilla. I don't know if it would work with globe, but I imagine if they are selling unlocked phones it should.
