Refused Yahoo Log-In on Browser

6 replies · 5,060 views · Started 06 June 2005

Hello all,
I have tried logging into my Yahoo mail and groups accounts with the web browser and have got the following error message:

"Browser refuses cookies"

When I look at the settings in the browser using:

Menu/Tools/Settings/Services

I see that I have the Option to use Cookies set at "Always"

Is there some other setting, I need to use.

By the way I am connecting via GPRS and Vodafone Live! in Ireland.

Many thanks for any pointers.

Martin

Sounds like Yahoo! is doing browser detection (typically done at the HTTP_USER_AGENT HTTP protocol header that all browsers send to identify the browser and operating system) and makes a wrong assumption about the browser's capabilities.

So, check if Yahoo! has a PDA/mobile version instead (and use whatever support or feedback forms or email addresses they have, to request them better support for mobile phones and browsers on them).

I have exactly the same problem when connecting to Yahoo Mail (and in fact any site which requres login) via proximus GPRS in Belgium.

Can you login to other sites?

I'm from Romania and i'm using a GPRS connection.....I'm a 9500 user
The same thing hapened to me.... Yahoo doesn't let me to log in....
My settings were ok , i always accept cookies but when i tried to log in the error appeared to me....
Any other site is ok...i can log in whitout problems except Yahoo, althought i've used my Yahoo mail from my phone almost a month...
My friend has a P800 Sony Ericsson and has the same problemm...
I think that Yahoo is guilty for this...

This does not sound good. One of the reasons I bought the 9500 was to be able to check my email via Yahoo without having to use an internet cafe or public access terminal when I go on holidays to Switzerland later this month.

Looks like we will need to follow this up with Yahoo. I have a paid account with Yahoo which I use to check all my email accounts when travelling.

REgards,

Guys just try what i did on my 7710, i had the same problem and never was able to log in into yahoo mail, but if u choose secure log in, a option under the password fiels in yahoo, then input password and user id, when u press log in u will receive a general error, but then just press log in again and ur in 😊

This works with me

I tried the secure login trick. Unfirtunately, it did not work for me... I just get the security warning over and over again.

Martin,
If nothing else works: if you accept to pay a little bit, you can upgrade to Yahoo Mail Business. Then you have access to POP, meaning you can forward your emails to your phone (no need to link to Yahoo anymore).

But for this you need to subscribe to Yahoo Business, which is not free.
