hi henny

i do have the same problem ask plinkykev he is the expert

Yep it's absolutely dire - I raised this with sendo technical, only to get told to read the manual. Great....only the manual doesnt cover jumpy video playback/recording.

Sad to say, but THAT is really a problem on the X. It is just not that smooth, as on most of the Nokias. Although it is not jumpy like a crazy horse 😃.

I'm afraid: It may not be fixed within the next firmware update ...

Example Video

Highest possible quality and framerate at 176x144.

I haven't investigated much into the camcorder - does it write straight to the memcard/phone mem or does it cache first?

Is the actual problem in the writing/capturing stage, or in the playback stage?

I just wonder where the testing was before it was ever released!!

It caches some info, then off-loads to phone or card memory. This is why, on some slow cards, you get a pause every four or five seconds.

The problem is basically how fast the phone can compress the data stream coming from the camera - this is *very* dependent on the amount of free RAM the phone has available at the time. To improve your chances, try to use the fastest card you can get your hands on, and always shut other applications before using the camcorder. (something like TaskSpy or AppMan will help here)

While it's not much consolation for X users, with X2's far better RAM handling (about 7MB free instead of 3.5MB) it is *much* better at video grabbing than the X is.

This is (partly) resolved in the next firmware release.
As mentioned above, it is to do with caching the video.
If you record a fairly short video (<300K) it will be OK.
If it is longer, then it will be worse.

Our camcorder allows unlimited recording. On Nokia's you are limited to 100K or so with their camcorder, so never really see this kind of problem for big videos.

Attached is a 100K video using the new firmware - watch for the cars 😊

which nokia u are limited??and that video i remember i saw it ong time a go before the release of sendox.... 😃

The default setting on my 6680 is "short" for video length, which limits me to 10 seconds. The "maximum" time gives me an hour - I' sure I can get more on an X!

The video file has today's date on it (if you know the website it's hosted on), so I think it's unlikely it's over a year old!

The 3650 and 6600, which are comparable phones. Also the SX1. The newish 7610 still only allows 10 minutes of recording, even with a 512MB card in it.

As for the video, it will be similar, as it's from the same window! 😊
But is is a new one, taken at the time I did the post.

on my n6680 and n6630 true is short for the mms but if u change it with long and default for mmc card is unlimited, that's what i get on mine, and what do u need more that 300k on x like plinkykev said "If you record a fairly short video (<300K) it will be OK.
If it is longer, then it will be worse",so until some one comes with an 30Fps than i can record 1 hour avi or cif quality video,BTW xcute dv1 a small company from taiwan has that kind of recording on they'r phone is amazing.

Yup that is a new vid, check the date as the server allows dir listings.

Eagerly awaiting new fw, this issue should have been solved before it was released!
