As I'm just thinking of buying a 9500 as successor of my Psion Series 5mxPRO I try to find out if there are any hard cases availbale for the 9500. Up to know I only found this one. Who knows any more or even has experience with a hard case for the 9500?
TIA and Greetings
Martin
Hi, can't help you there.
I'm a big fan of hard cases, (I used them with my Jornada 720 and Cli UX50) and I've been looking on the net for months - you're the first link I found to a hard case for the 9500.
I personaly use a Magellan pouch made for a GPS device. It fits perfectly my Commie (and is well padded) and is available at Radio Shack for 20$.
By the way, if you think of buying a 9500 to "update" your Psion, DO IT! You won't regret it. I was long-time user of a Jornada 720 and I don't miss it.
Anybody tried this hard case?
I wanted to order (the company is in Hong-Kong),
but I'm not sure if it just "fits" the 9500
or if it's made specifically for the 9500.
Anyway, thanks for the infos.
Cheers,
Poly

Thanks for the hint to the Magellan case. But after thinking more and more about it, I decided to use an Otterbox. Although the case doesn't have to be waterproof I'll use one of them because they are made of plastic (but are larger too)). A metal case would behave like a 'faraday cage' and force the phone to use more power.

Hey,
I just found another hard case for the 9500 at this adresse:
http://shop.brando.com.hk/bwmetalcase_details.php?i=43
Now, this one is made specifically for the 9500.
Think of it before buying an Otterbox. That's precisely the one I used to use for my Jornada 720, it was a perfect fit.
But for the 9500... this case is giant, you could almost put 2 Commies inside.
But anyway this case (model 1000) is incredible, you can use it for other purposes,
and you can even take it with you while you swim!
And what about the "Faraday" thing? Are you sure the 9500 has to use more power in a metal case? An explanation would be great for my understanding.
Many thanks,
Poly

I've just purchased this Brando case. Like you, I was wondering wether radio signals would be hindered. Actually they are not, except, perhaps, the bluetooth, but I am not sure yet: the PC connection is still fine, only the earkit seems to be more or less disrupted (but this was already true before). Apparently, 1 mm thick aluminium is permeable to frequencies in use.
BTW I would like to have a second one, similar to this but without the holes for keyboard, screen, mike, loudspeaker, connectors and camera: the protection would then be almost perfect (for biking, rucksack etc.)
Hey, Brando?? Please let me know when this option is available.
