People usually avoid using communicator as PHONE, becoz they say its Heavy, which is indeed.
6800 is gonna wipe these complaints , Although it dosent have office etc but Communicator should call it ----> Mini Me <-----
6800 communicator - Mini Me
I always use my Communicator as a phone -- it's the primary function.
I've never heard of people buying the Communicator primarily for the PDA and use another phone for...well, phone functions. what's the purpose of getting it? might as well get a small phone and a stand-alone PDA. 😊
damn...forgot to log-in again. 😃
I've been using my 9210 as a phone for a year now, but decided to buy a 8310 next to it (with Vodafone SIM copy).
After a moth of use I can say that now I use the communicator during the day, at the office and on the road, and in the evenings and week-ends, at home or in a cafe, I use the 8310. Next to it I bought the Carkit for the 8310, because it was quite a lot cheaper!
Are others using their Communicator in the same way?
Yeah
Here lots of people who owns a communicator , they keep another gsm phone too , just like you ... when they dont need to use PDA .. like evenings , clubs , holidays .. specially when they dont bother to take a heavy and big size phone .. they change their sim to any other smaller gsm phone
That include myself also
I've got a good belt so 4im not bothered by the size. I just don't take it with me to clubs because I don't want to break it I leave it in the car, can't afford 2 phones.
I use it for Business.
ALL its function, excepting fax (for the moment)
I also own a CDMA Phone to connect for High Speed Internet with my Laptop or 9210 (153Kbps).
For week-ens (is hard to say all the week-end`s Iam able lo leave my 92xx Baby home) I use Ericsson T28 or Nokia 3310.
So, it is not the size that matters, Is what you do with that size.
I am using 9210 as a PDA without SIM card, and sometimes I use 7650 as an infrared external modem for 9210 to connect to the internet through GPRS and to use the browser, e-mail client and full keyboard from 9210 😃
I always used my 9210 as a phone and will continue to use my 9210i as a phone also, i'm not bothered about the size, its that the phone eats through my back pockets, so every 3-4 months a new pair of jeans have to be brought. 😞 😞 I've also just ordered the new 8910 Black limited edition version 😃 😃 , so it should reduce the number of jeans I have to buy.
I don't think that it is heavy in any way whatsoever, as there are far more heavier things in my jeans!
😉
I solved the weight problem by using a horizontal phone holder that attaches to the belt with two belt hoops. It works so well its easy to forget it's there. An additional benefit is keeping the 9210 secure - difficult to steal and less chance of putting it down and forgetting about it! I guess it isn't the coolest looking solution so I tend to wear a jacket when I want to hide it.
4u2nv,
good choice man, but what about waiting the 8910i with a colored screen.. it would be better 😉
btw, what does your nick mean??
i agree with Tomahawk.. i'm using the functional horizantal holder with a headset...
I mostly use 9210 day and night and never mind the size because if I wasn't carrying it I would be carrying a phone + a calendar + a little-notebook-to- jot-things-down-to + etc. Only on special occasions, e.g. fancy dinners, where I can only carry a very tiny handbag, I switch to my previous phone which was a 7110.
A thing about headsets: I bought them thinking they would solve one (minor) problem. I hate it when someone calls and I need to check something in my calendar while talking. Of course I can open the communicator and the conversation continues, but from there on everyone in the room can hear not only what I am saying but also what the other person is saying. And often the person on the other end does not know that his/her every word is open to all. So I figured I would buy a headset and by using it be able to check my calendar while talking on the phone without other people hearing the whole conversation. BUT. The headset is allways somewhere else, never there to be plugged in. I tried to keep it on all the time but the wire got tangled up in my bag and I gave up. :x
Does anybody else have the same problem? Does anyone have a solution?

Well the 8910 looks stunning enough without the colour screem and the black ones are limited edition ones!
And my forum name: Means what it say 4 U 2 N V, (say it all together fast)similar to the no plate I'm tryin to buy from DVLC.
FAO LAuRA
Those headsets are total rubbish, i've been though about 4 since last year and they keep on snapping off the connection, those pins aren't very strong to hold it in, so I stopped using it months ago.
so what do you do when you need to check your calendar while on the phone and don't want poeple to hear what the other person is saying?
Ask the person calling to wait? I know the problem, experienced it 2.
Don't think that there is any solution :s
Tell everyone to put their little fingers in their ears or go out of the room or to stop listerning into to other peoples conversations, their are many things you can do! :-? :-? :-?
I was hoping for a more advanced kind of a solution. You know, a gadget of some sort 😉
Wouldn't it be nice if there was an ear plug inside the device and you could pull it out whenever you needed? Like an antenna extension 😃
No harm in dreaming, is there?
I just like to say that the i could never consider the 6800 to be even in distant relation to a 92XX device.
Laura, U got 2 options:
1. To put the person on Hold while checking the agenda
2. Buy a Wireless headset for 9210 (I have seen this in a recent GSM Magazine- You put one adapter-Transmiter in the Nokia, and the headset has a built in receiver)
3...
3. Make the settings on your 9210 so the Audio is Off when Cover Open
aa-haa there is a gadget to solve this problem after all :P
I knew I could count on you guys

Everyone who visits this forum is smart! 😉 At least they made 1 very smart choice of coming here 😉
i don't mind carrying my 9210i anytime, anywhere... can't leave w/o it. even on weekends... just make sure i won't get too drunk and forget my unit.... 😉
"all in one phone+pda device" -- no pda beats that, i guess. 😉
i use to phones, the 9210 could be a problem during a night out, its too bulky to put in ur pocket and would probably get stolen if left on top of the table in a club with dim lights, so during night, i leave the phone in the car and turn on sms assistant to forward msgs to my smaller phone 😊

Actually, leaving your 9210 on a table in a night club probably isn't a problem, in that dim light most people would think it's a VERY old phone 😉
