3230 ...RS-MMC & Standard MMC?

Hey, i'm wanting to purchase the Nokia 3230, but would like to know if it takes a standard sized MMC card as well as a reduced sized one. Ive been reading some posts saying the phone was having problems with cards larger than 128MB....Is it capable of using a card larger than a 128MB?

Thanks
Vicky 😊

The phone only uses Reduced Size MMC cards, not full size MMC cards

I have run my phone with 128, 256 and 512 Meg RS-MMC cards and have never had a problem with any of them.
Hope that helps
Mark

In the manual is reported "reduced size mmc dual voltage" alias RS-MMC DV
Here in the thread I read that Mark4130 use 128, 256 and 512 RS-MMC.
So I am very confused :frown: !
Can I buy an RS-MMC for my 3230? Or I *need* an RS-MMC DV?

As you can see the DV card has additional lower pins, these are for the dual voltage connections, the 3230 therefor will accept a DV card but run it as a normal MMC, so the extra paid on a DV card will not help save the battery, but if you have one anyway, you can still use it 😊 Normal MMC cards have just the top row of pins, but i am sure you can all pop out your cards and look at them if you really want to 😉 These are very useable cards, i'v yet to write my PIC routines to do more than read the status register, if my customer wants data backup i'v alot of work to do 😛 hehehe.

Ok! Thank you.
I understand that:
1) Can buy an RS-MMC. :icon14:
2) Can save money with an RS-MMC instead of a DV version 😉 .
3) The actual 3230 manual writer is a :icon13: 😃

Thanks again! ...

The additional pins are not for dual-voltage, but for high-speed data transfer. The phone does not support high-speed transfer (you won't see corresponding connectors in the memory card slot of the phone).

dukesatan plz be sure of what ur saying before posting, as n/a said the pins are for high speed data which the phones don't support. as for conserving battery, the dv rs-mmcs do, i have confirmed with nokia and atp (leading memory manufacturer)

My appologies, i'll have to check my datasheet, guess i read it wrong, happy to stand corrected 😊
