you need GPS system?
aahhh..
that ain't cool..
None of the solutions are cheap (mainly because of licenseeing fees for maps). You coul do your own maps using something like Power Navigator from Symbianware - www.symbianware.com
And a separate GPS receiver is needed, because the phone does not have a built-in GPS receiver and network based positioning isn't very accurate.
Cellular network positioning accuracy may also vary greately depending on where you are, and at best can estimate your location within an area few tens or hundreds of meters, and at worst within an area of several square kilometers).
Most operators also do not really support any kind of location/positioning services at all. Those that do, don't really support phone-based apps at all, but have usually just very simple SMS or MMS based services that can't be used for navigation (just to find approximately where you are, and the address of the nearest pizzeria or some such).
With a GPS receiver you get accuracy to within 1-2 meters (outside), if enough GPS satellites are visible (e.g., in big cities with tall buildings all around it may be difficult).
how u connect gps to cell?
You connect them over Bluetooth. In other words, you get a GPS receiver that has Bluetooth. The apps I listed earlier can (or sometimes have to) be purchased bundled with a Bluetooth receiver (so you don't necessarily need to find one separately).
can't it work without gps? with cell position?
where can i find croatia map? nowhere it seems..
can u post few shot..to see..how streets look..and your gps..( how it looks )
No. Didn't you read my post above about cell positioning?
i've read it
but..can it show in radius like..100m?
No, not really.
The network operator knows where, exactly, they have their base stations (the cellular network cells), what kind of antenna is there, how it is directed and what kind of sector it covers and in which direction and extermely rouhgly through timing mechanisms how far from the basestation the phone is (but the range can be from meters to tens of kilometers).
If the location is visible to multiple base stations of the same network operators, the phone locks in to the one with the strongest signal, but you can use the others to (again roughly) triangulate the area and know where the phone is).
But this is still not very accurate and only something the network operator knows, if they have set up the network to do so. It is not information a phone can get (one of the key factors missing is that there is no way for the phone to know the exact coordinates of the bases stations; where they are, in effect).
So, no phone application can use cell IDs and other data the phone can get to calculate a position and show it on any map (at least not without network operators providing a service and API to get such info, and generally they don't and in those rare cases they do, they expose it as a fee-based services).
All in all, the fact remains: You need to buy a separate GPS receiver to use it with any of these navigation apps.
tnx man
i aint feelin like buying gps 4 gadget fun
