No matter what I do, I cannot get the new voice mail message to show up on my phone (I guess that would be in the right part of the top status line). I live in US and Cingular blames this on unlocked phone and lack of compatibility. I got the voice mail number from them (with a + in front) and entered it in the voice mail window but it still does not work. This is a real pain to keep calling my voice mail just to check if there are any messages. Am I stuck with no icon or am I doing something wrong?
Problem with 7710 and Cingular-no voice mail message icon
can anyone help me or at least point me to where I could get some help?

My service provider (Cingular) blames it on incompatible phone. I entered the voice mail number in my voice mail folder but the phone does not let me know in any way. The only thing I see is missed calls. This really sucks... 😡 😡

I work for Cingular and carry a 7710 myself. You sould have a VM icon show up when you get a VM. You can turn off the indicator in the VM system too. But call CS and have them check to see that it is provisioned correctly. If not have them reset you email box. There are a lot of markets that are upgrading to a new email service this year and depending on your location you may be one of them. Have customer service reset the box and you should be ok.

I called Cingular and they gave me a voice mail number to enter in my voice mail entry under Telephone-Tools menu (I am not sure what DTMF line is suppose have though). I entered the numbered (it starts with +) that according to them is phone brand specific (?) and still nothing... My old Siemens SL56 never had this problem but this new phone is very frustrating... 😡
I'm on Vodafone in the UK and my 7710 won't recieve text messages to notify me a voicemail is waiting either. I think it must be a 7710 software problem. I've had Vodafone check everything for me and was told all was working OK at their end, so I put the sim card back in my old phone and sent a test voicemail, and got the text notification straight away! What I've done to get around it for now is to change my voicemail settings to recieve a phone message alert instead of text, then if I'm not available at least it appears as a missed call from my voicemail box so I know there's a message there... 🙄

Hi,
I am having the same problem. I did reset the voicemail with Cingular CS, have upgraded to the latest firmware, still no notification. Any other ideas? Is it possible to get a Text Message instead?
eh, forget it... I do not think that there is a way to make this work... I guess I just have to keep checking my messages.... this is what you get for buying unsupported phone... I think the part that really sucks is Nokia will not even talk to me here in US and sends me to their European branch. So much money for something that cannot even function as some of the cheapest phones available locally...
