Ok , 1 question out of the Topic, whenever i dial on internet using communicator , i usually get error .. unknown network failure..... then i dial the isp access number directly and i get the fax tone every time i dial without any problem......when i call my cell service provider , they say ISP problem ..... but i belive they are dodging me becoz i get the fax tone every time ... just when i dial to connect to internet using data number offcourse .. i always get the error and after minutes of efforts i get connected... what do you guys say ?

Areyou shure you are dialing the right number?
Usualy when you make Data Calls, you do not hear a thing. Only a D is displayed on the front pannel...
Check your settings afterall
What modem type are you using on the 9210?
my internet access number is 13134560. i dial it simply when use www or e-mail and it automatically starts dialing. and then i get the error ... offcourse i get connected also on same number after many attempts... But whenever i fail to get connected ...... i simply close the cover and dial the internet access number by phone mode .. and i get the fax tone every time
... that makes me believe something wrong in data channel of GSM
becoz i always get fax tone using voice channel which means isp is always responding ... but www or e-mail are purely data applications which use data channel rather then ordinary voice channel and i start getting errors like unknown network failure.
ISP use voice/sounds to dial in. So the fax sounds are normal.
Why you manualy type in your number?
I think that you haven't set your internet access point up right.
Check the modem and speed type that you have configged for that internet access point.
could be that it's jsut a bad isp.
i manually type the internet access number just to check wether the isp is responding or no ....ISP responds every time ......so isp problem is out of question.....Offcourse i have setup my internet setting perfectly... becoz on same setting it get connected also but after making many attempts and once if it get connect it runs great.... by the way .. this problem is not only for me but with everybody here who is subscribed to the cell service provider here..... when we contacted the cell provider .. they always refuse it . you see the same dialup number dosent reponds by data channel but it always reponds through voice channel ... means something wrong at cell service provider .. what you think ?

😃 Thats the wonder that cell service provider is not offering internet service but they refer to an ISP with whome they have a named collaboration (I work at that ISP as support engineer) and somehow i am facing these all problems as i am the only one here who helps the clients for their mobile internet setups and general little problems 😃
Unknown network failure is most common problem of our country 😃

i studied the procedure on internet somewhere , how do we get connect to internet over GSM networks and it was like that.
Infact ..To get connected to internet we need a data bearer service from the cell service provider which means something.... whenever we dial to internet through your communicator or any other mobile phone .. its redirected to a device named .INTERWORKING UNIT (IWU) which resides inside Mobile switching center of cell service provider. This device is like an access server having alot of modem chips , we then get connected to one of the modem which lets us connected to the internet service using the ordinary land phone lines on the other hand .
Now we get the error (unknown network failure) becoz cell phone service usually dosent have enough line or modems at their interworking units or these IWU,s capacity get filled by another users so that we dosent get through to internet. but you see .. after making some attempts we get success to get connect .. this is becoz one of the line at IWU get free and at that moment we are connected.
I read that above mentioned procedure somewhere on internet and finally reached on a result that problem does not resides in software or communicator or any other mobile.
whenever you face this error .. immediatly close the cover and dial the internet access number using your mobile phone ... you will hear a fax tone from internet access number , that means NO ISP PROBLEM!
That was my experience ... plz share or correct me if i was wrong somewhere

Data call must re-direct to its particular way and pass through these IWU,s in order to modulate and de-modulate the GSM data call to land phone line and vice versa. :P
