MS Exchange Server 2003

I'm considering a Nokia 7710 as a more fun replacement for a Motorola Smartphone which runs Windows Mobile 2003. The main reason for getting a Windows phone was to sync with a Microsoft Exchange email server. I'm wondering if anyone with a 7710 has tried anything similar?

I'm not that fussed about syncing contacts or calendar, but email is critical. I reckon IMAP4 ought to work (it's what MS Outlook uses) but my email server is a private non-ISP one, though it can be accessed from the Internet. Will the 7710 let me send/receive emails this way?

Many thanks - GeoffT.

If you have a front-end Exchange server accessible on the Internet with IMAP4, it should work. For sending you might have to specify your network operator's SMTP server, though.

Thanks for the reply. I can open the IMAP port on the Exchange server to the outside world but it's not on a public domain, simply an IP address. It's not very clear from the Nokia user guide where you can specify an IP address for the mail host. Do you happen to know if that's possible?

Many thanks - GeoffT.
