irda connection

hello everyone,
I have just bought a 3230 and i tried to connect it to my hp omnibook XE3 but:

I can send files from my hp to the phone only when the are "connected". this happens every 20 seconds for a 40 seconds period then they disconnect and I have to wait until I hear the connec sound to proceed. when they connect the hp sends the file to the phone regardless of size and connection time they do not disconnect.

when I try to send a file from the phone to hp there is an initial contact but after 10 sec they disconnect and cancel the transfer

I tried to use oxygen software but the phone even it is recognized by the irda of the hp is not connecting to the program. I have d-loaded and installed all files from oxygen both on the hp an on the 3230 but there is no connection.

i use win98 so there is no chance to use th pc suit of nokia
is there any othe way to connect using the DKU-2 cable or the irda?
i have tried both the SIR AND FIR setting
the speed is limited to 112.5

what am I doing wrong?

Is the label still covering the irDA window?

Try using just the microsoft driver for irDA rather than the HP one? (Update driver in device manager)
