I know I'm not the first person to observe that SonyEricsson ought to be able to come up with more reliable syncing. The sync problems will be the reason why I think I might try an XDA mini next time. It's driving me bonkers.
At the moment, if I try to sync only contacts, it works. And that's with 612 contacts. I've given up on email. It's the calendar that's so annoying. If I try to sync the calendar it just says 'initialising' forever. I've searched every board you can suggest trying to find an answer, to no avail, other than to see that lots of other people have sync problems. I've tried reinstalling the drivers, the software, switching off anti-virus and firewalls, using the latest version of the software, using the old version of the software, using the American version of the software; I'm tempted to use the Romanian version! You name it - nothing.
I rang the 'help' desk and they said make sure the firewall was off (clever...) and check my Outlook profile. Did that. Nothing.
I rang the 'help' desk again and they ran me through all the same suggestions again. He went to speak to his supervisor, came back and said 'Do you have a lot of items in your calendar?' I said, 'yes'. He said, 'Ah, that will be it. You'll need to delete some.' 'What?' I asked incredulously. 'If there's too many things in the calendar it just freezes. You'll need to delete some.' 'Do you appreciate that that is a totally unsatisfactory resolution to this problem?' 'Yes, I can see why you might think that.' 'Might be time to get a different phone...'
My next cunning plan was to trick the phone into only syncronising ten days at a time; still no difference. Thinking it was a different day; nothing.
The long and the short of this long ramble is that I just want the calendar to syncronise once, just once, so that the calendar in my phone, which has been my principal calendar for the last three months, can be uploaded into Outlook, so that when I get rid of my piece of @#$% P800 I can then download an up to date calendar from Outlook onto the new phone. At the moment I'm looking like having to sit down and manually enter it all.
Frustrated and desperate, as you can see. Any (by now miraculous) suggestions much appreciated. And should I get an XDA mini?
