I'm trying to use my MP3s that I transfer over to the Nokia 6680 as my ringtone, but it just doesn't give the option. I've tried converting them into DRM files with the Nokia Internet Tools program, but they don't even get recognised by the phone.
Do I need to turn my music tracks into AAC to use them as a ringtone? The MP3's play fine if i use them in the music player app, but I can't get the phone to accept them as a ringtone!
I realise that this may all sound stupid and there's a simple answer to it, but I've just never found out what it is.
If anyone is able to help me, I'd appreciate it.
many thanks

I use my MP3 files as ringtones without a problem. I've heard though that some of the locked phones are unable to play MP3 as ringtone.
All I did was save the mp3 files to Sound Clip directory on phone or Memory card. The MP3 files are then selectable as a ringtone. Hope this helps
you need to download DbPowerAmp music converter then you download a mp4 codec and start converting then put them on ya phone and play then stop then use them as ringtone works on my vodafone nokia 6630 branded

Dont Buy Vodafone Phones.....
But as the previous person stated convert to AAC using Dbpoweramp (dbpoweramp.com) and the AAC encoder codec (or Itunes) and rename the file extension to .M4a

hi
i have a 6680 and mp3's as ringtones works fine
send the mp3 to your phone via whatever you use.......i use bluetooth...
save it.....
goto, tools--profiles--profile your using--personalise--ringing tone........
you should see your mp3's in there and it allows you to select and use as a ringtone.........
mine does anyway.........
hope it works for you

Me too. Vodafone 6680 on 3G contract and no problems at all.
well perhaps us people in norwich have all the luck hey !!
Basically its a firmware issue that was also present on early 6630's, I'd have thought they would have ironed it out before they rolled the 6680 out though shame on Nokia.
