Hi there
I am thinking of buying a 9300, but wondered if one could add a wifi card for those few times when one needs it
thanks

The 9300 uses MMC cards and what you are proposing is only available using SDIO cards.

What about attaching Wi-Fi USB dongle to the pop-port?

No to that, too. There is no such Wi-Fi dongle you could attach (and you'd need suitable software for the phone, too).

if u were to add something at the pop port, then you would make the phone bigger in size.... y not just buy a nokia 9500...

That's the thing. What if I do not want to carry around extra weight for Wi-Fi enclosed in 9500 all the time? What if I only might need Wi-Fi on occasions?
And what if my Wi-Fi network is 801.11a (or g)? Wouldn't it be nice to have add on type of dongle? I think it would not be a big problem to fit USB dongle to the Nokia Pop-port. Software could be a bigger problem. Does anybody know any 3rd party software to control Wi-Fi on Symbian OS?
