SEndo X not receiving calls - again!

9 replies · 2,843 views · Started 27 June 2005

Hi new here so please bear with me

I have read many forums about the X not receiving calls whilst playing an mp3, but I have just got my new X and it appears to default to divert everything to voice mail.

I am using the phone on Orange in the UK

The phone is unlocked but flashed with Vodafone UK software. It has the latest firmware from Sendos site flashed to the phone.

So synptoms

turn the phone on and try to call it. Goes directly to VoiceMail. If I clear all diverts via the usual menus, the phone receives calls until I try playing an mp3 or sending a text, the the divert everything problem comes back.

Tried tonoght manually setting up each divert seperately, the played an mp3, sent a text etc and yes it still received calls. Yipee it now woeks. Not. I then rebooted the phone and yes divert all to VM was back.

So Sendo experts any ideas. Id the phone faulty or just a quirk with the Orange network. I want to get all the facts before I go back to the retailer / Sendo and start moaning and talking about fit for purpose etc etc

Many thanks for eading....

i would still go back and get another X as a replacement, be it a network problem or not. if they sold it to you, then it should work - no matter if it is the network or the phone.

to me it sounds as if the phone is at fault, although the diverts are handled from your network. by chance do you have another sim (or borrow someones) and test it in the phone? that may narrow the problem.

i know it is not a solution, but that is what i would do.

Hi

thanks for the quick reply, just tried my O2 business Sim in the phone and I get the same result, so more emails to the retailer tomorrow

thanks

It sounds almost as exactly the same probs I encountered. Email Sendo about this and all will be fixed (as in my case).

On Orange in the UK, you've (unfortunstely) got the worst of the MP3 . call bug.

What you should find is that once you exit the MP3 player, your phone starts receiving calls normally.

If it doesn't, the, as Mark said, look at your retailer. If you got it from e-bay, let me know and we'll see what we can sort out.

Thanks for the info folks, just a couple of comments if I may

stuclark, you say Orange has the worst of the mp3 call bug, why is Orange any worse that the other GSM operators in the UK.

Also the phone appears to reset diverts after it is rebooted, without having played an mp3 file.

I am not really talking about not receiving call *whilst* listening to mp3, but actually when *not* listening to mp3.

Yes I did get it of eBay, but the seller is a well known UK retailer of this kind of thing (best not to name at ther moment) and is being very helpful. The first phone was DOA and was swapped out very quickly (it would not boot past the Sendo X splash screen).

I just want to get all the info together just in case. I actually like the phone alot, but not being able to receive calls is pretty critical !

Thanks again

I had a similar problem when I got mine, bought SIM-free from Expansys, for use with an Orange PAYG SIM. I registered OK with Orange, but test calls from my GF's mobile didn't come thru. I wasn't running anything on the phone. I called Orange again using the Sendo and it was obvious that the reception was poor and likely to fail, so Orange called me back on my landline. Due to the poor reception, calls were being automatically diverted to voice mail. Had I got the phone from Orange, they could have done a proper test, but as it is I'm not sure if the problem is the phone, local Orange reception, or Orange problems on that day.

Orange disabled the auto voice mail and since then it's worked fine, but I hardly use the phone functions anyway. I need to do some more tests, and possibly get Orange to reinstate the auto voice mail.

😮 Ugh! I am planning on getting a Sendo X and using it on Orange PAYG (I've been an Orange customer on monthly contract for years, and never had any problems).

Am I going to be in trouble if I do this? I note that Orange won't sell me a Sendo phone, so I'm going to either buy one from eBay (missed a great one a few days ago that had the keyboard and 1GB card included) or from Expansys when they get them in.

Cheers,

Howard

You should have no problems using orange with the Sendo X.

I've been fortunate enough to use the new firmware due to be released soon and its extremely reliable.

There's always a possibilty that you have a bad unit, it does happen, but i'd give the new firmware a try before returning it.
