RSS News and Blog Reader

I wanted to introduce a new RSS News and Blog reader for mobile phones. FreeNews is a Java application (not WAP based) that allows you to subscribe to the web based information you really care about - news, blogs, local news, sports, weather, stock, etc. - and read it on your phone. Because it is not a browser based program that goes to get information everytime you click on a link, FreeNews is tremendously faster and efficient (lower data charges) than any WAP based service.

With FreeNews, you subscribe to any RSS website (most these days) and our server tracks your sites for new information. When you connect from your phone, only the new headlines and summaries are sent to your phone (compressed). Because the summaries are stored on your phone, you can easily scan your news even when you don't have a signal (underground or on a plane). A built-in text browser lets you read the full text of the sites you are most interested in without you having to wait for the full html to download.

We think FreeNews will radically change how you view internet information from your phone.

FreeNews costs $20 a year and a 7 day trial version is available here

FreeNews has received great reviews so far, including from Wired at http://wired.com/news/wireless/0,1382,67788,00.html

and Steve Rubel

Give it a try and let us know what you think! Any questions, comments or suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks,
