I have installed Tom Tom 5 on my 7710 and the icons are on my desktop but when i launch them the screen just goes white as if it about to start the programme then it returns back to the desktop.
Has anyone got TT5 on their phone, did they have any problems, or is it just because i do not have my gps receiver yet and you need it to start the programmme.
My brother has TT5 on his 6600 and even without a gps receiver connected he still gets the start screen, menus etc.
7710 compatability problem ???
Thanks

No, Tried re installing it but still the same.
I have also tried to install some of the sega games as described in another thread but i cannot get these to work either, there are no launch icons and if i try to launch from 'my files' it just says ' unknown file format'.
Am i missing something here ?

Hi I have the same problem with tomtom the screen goes white and after a second or 2 it comes back in the normal screen.
hi , i've got the same problem!
the answer to your problem is that you need TomTom5 mobile series 90
my gues is that you've got the series 60 like id did
i got series 90 tomtom 5... and it gose the same as every one els... with 2 sec and then desktop.... wtf it suld work but why wont it?
Still no luck, I was 'given' another mmc card today apparently with s90 tom tom on it and it does exactly the same thing.
This is meant to be up and running on the 7710 now so what can the problem be ?
Someone must know ??????????????
Has anyone solved this problem yet, my tomtom is doing the same
I now have tom tom 5 working on my 7710 but still cannot get the gps unit to be recognised.
How did you get it working? Is you'r GPS receiver a Tomtom Because i think it will only work with Tomtom receiver.
I found a relacement .app file which works but the only option i have is for the genuine tom tom gps receiver while tom tom 5 is meant to work with any brand reciever.
my Dear . Nokia 6600 and Nokia 7710 is total Deffrent software okay.. you cant use the same Program with 7710 ....

i have also problems with tomtom for nokia 7710 because tomtom doesn't found my emtac gps module. does anybody succeed a gps connection with this device?

It's almost certainly low RAM. You've probably got lots of applications running in RAM, with no way to close or manage them, thanks to Nokia not providing any built-in mechanisms.
The best way to check if this is the problem is simply to remove the 7710's battery and reinsert it, thus restarting the device. At this point you should have somewhere around 10MB of RAM free and TomTom MOBILE 5 should start OK (it needs around 6MB).
Does this help?
I managed to sort out the problem, It was the wrong TTMobile folder that I was using, The version I had was from the 6600 ( symbian 60 ) while I needed the S90 version for the 7710.
There is no way that any other receiver will work with the 7710, I had this confirmed by Tom Tom and there is no patch available as all the patches are for the S60 system, so anyone with this phone it looks like you need a genuine Tom Tom reciver as I did !
When i installed the s80 version on my nokia 7710 i can choose a another gps receiver and my emtac works.
Hiya im new to this forum and only joined because your the only people that seem to be discussing the same problem as im having.
Im having alot of trouble installing TomTom Mobile 5 to my Nokia 7710.
The instructions that came with the cd said to just drag and drop all the files contained on the cd to the memory card then once you've done that 2 new icons should appear at the bottom of the menu.
This is not the case though. The files are just on in the "File Manager" screen and when I click TomTom.exe it just says 'unknown file format'
Do you have any idea whats happening here??
I may have a PDA version or even S60 version. I just aint 2 sure.
If you could or reply on here or email me at:
All help is MUCH appreciated
Thanks,
Dan

Eh? TomTom MOBILE 5 comes on little memory cards, NOT on CD. It sounds as though you've picked up a pirate copy from somewhere. Where did you get it from?

My true problem is:
I have official 4.43 TOM TOM with bundle italian 7710 from May.
I have also a back-up copy in my HD (directory Italia-map, Licenses and TomTom)
Yesterday I have for error, transfer files in TOMTOM'S MMC 256M and not my 128M new MMC, with a write full error.
So thinking to have a complete TOMTOM back-up I formatted the MMC and restore my HD's copy of TOMTOM. Than i have non more TOMTOM icon.
Panic!!!!
My friend explane me that probably i don't back-up all the MMC'content.
So i
So my question are (please help)
Is it possible have a full back-up of MMC official TOMTOM (for next time)?
If I order now from tom tom a version 5 upgrade working with my partial 4.43 content ?

Eh? I didn't know that TomTom MOBILE ever worked with the 7710 before the current version 5 build.
Sorry, but your questions all need to be directed at TomTom or your 7710-supplier. TT MOBILE 5 needs individual activation, anyway, so you've got to go down the official route.

If read that TOMTOM can give every client (for about 100,-) a upgrade from an lower version to the newest version. You have to contact TOMTOM for this.
For TOMTOM Mobile 5 on your Nokia 7710, you need at last s80 version. This is the version for Nokia 9300/9500. But also working on Nokia 7710. The version for Nokia 7710 is s90. This version is build special for Nokia 7710, so will work with touch screen and is full screen. The s80 version is not full screen and will not working very fine with the touch screen, when you want to touch a pictogram, you have to hit the pictogram under the pictogram you want.

At end I order last friday TOM TOM mobile 5.
My friend say the problem of back-up is the method.
I use Nokia PC Suite and trasfer file from Nokia to my PC : is wrong 😡 :to
He says unique correct method is card reader with PC. 😎

Good to reed you solved the problem. I'm still curious how you managed to get it fixed though. I still haven't been able to get it to start up. How can you distinct the S60 ttmobile.app from the S90 version?
By the way, for using other GPS receivers but the TomTom receiver on the Nokia 7710 I found these posts on a forum:
http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22739
Basicly you should overwrite the ttmobile.app from a S80 version, change the GPS receiver settings and then overwrite the S90 ttmobile.app again.
