.sis is the symbian installer and usually won't run on the
PC.

eminemence, the original question is about accessing files on the phone from a PC without having to install anything on the phone first (not about trying to install and use .sis files on a PC).

passager51: Something can be done: If the Symbian phone is a recent (a model released after the 6600), then Nokia PC Suite (http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite) can access files on the phone.

For Forum Nokia PRO member companies, the PRO site (http://pro.forum.nokia.com) also has PC Suite API documentation (but for apps using the APIs, PC Suite must first be installed on the PC or the apps won't work).
