New Symbian trojan detected

Helsinki, Finland - July 1, 2005

A new Symbian trojan called Doomboot.A has been found. Doomboot.A is a trojan that drops Commwarrior.B on the phone and is able to disrupt phone functionality in a previously unknown way. It drops Symbian ETEL ROM binaries to the C:\ folder of the device. Doomboot.A is also the first malware that drops Commwarrior.B on the device. The ROM binaries cause the device to fail at the next boot and the device stays in an eternal reboot loop.

If your device gets infected, do not reboot the device. Instead, go to the application manager and deinstall the trojan. Then, go to mobile.f-secure.com and install a free 30-day trial of F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus or purchase it from www.f-secure.com/estore/ Finally, get the latest virus signature database updates and scan your device to remove the trojan.
