This sucks really much. Every time I get a SMS or a call there's a annoying beep tone before the ringtone starts. Is this a bug? Can I switch it off somehow? Is a firmware upgrade solving this problem?

this is meant to be there, nokia put it, and as of now there are no plans to remove it in future firmwares.
What the hell should be the purpose for this beep?
Who said that this was no bug? I can't believe it. This is so annoying that I will sell my phone if I can't remove it.
Is it possible to delete the sound file?

nope it cant be removed!
APPARENTLY.. i've read that its a "safety feature" warning you that the ring tone is about to sound... incase you happen to have the phone near your ear before it rings...

I cant believe that nokia arnt removing it/giving us the option to remove it.. the actual time taken to program this into a new OS must be SO small (probably just change a binary 1 to a 0)

Does the 6630 have this beep sound, too? Is the MP3-Player of the 6630 as shitty as the one of the 3230?

6630 doesn't have a beep and the MP3 player plays in stereo, too.
i find this beep thing absolutely stupid, as i do not want my phone to beep while at school, it will be confiscated, such a small thing changes my minds about phones, why does it only have to be this nokia any way. are you sure it even beeps in silent mode????

Sell the phone on ebay. I got 200� for it and bought a 6630 for 220�.
The 6630 is much better in any way. The only thing I miss is Agent V.
If this "beep feature" will be in all future Nokias I will never again buy one.
