For an average non techie, new to pda devices' user, what if any difference would I notice with the 9500 and 9300? they both look good and I do mostly email and web surfing plus of course the phone feature. Can you give me any tips which one I'd prefer... Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

9500 advantages:

-Bigger screen (physical size)
-Bigger and better keyboard
-W-LAN
-Better battery life
-Has a camera

9300 advantages:

-Screen tilts all the way back
-Much smaller and weighs less.
-"No camera".

I'd say get the 9300 if size matters and you don't need W-LAN (Wi-Fi).

PS: Please use the search function next time. 😉

Yes, I was in kinda a hurry and did'nt check there first, sorry.. Is there a prossesor speed listed for either model? Thanks

As far as I know the 9500's CPU is an ARM-9 based TI OMAP 1510 dual-core RISC processor running at 156Mhz (which is a 50 MHz "under-clock", probably made in order to conserve power and keep the temperature down). I do not know about the 9300, but since they seem to perform alike, I would assume they have the same processor.

By choosing between the 9300 and the 9500, my advice is to go for the 9500 unless you really really really need the small size of the 9300. Never mind the camera, which I consider a gadget that I personally hardly ever use, but WIFI is what makes this device so exceedingly great. After having gotten used to having it on my 9500, I'm not buying a mobile device without WIFI again ever. Yep - it is THAT cool. 😊

It lets you connect to a wireless network giving you broadband speed for web browsing, e-mail, IM etc. If you for instance have a wireless network through a router setup at home, you can connect to that network on a 9500 - just like you can on a laptop or any other computer. And you can connect to 'hotspots' like for example in an airport or coffee shop and so forth.

If you'd like a better explanation, just check with the Wikipedia.

And the best thing about WIFI is, that it is totally free to use 😃

Well, mostly anyway.... you pay a small flat fee in most airports and hotels for unlimited traffic. In the streets you can usually find a private hotspot by just letting the 9500 scan while you are going for a walk in the neighborhood. And of course I have a WIFI access point on my home internet too.

Since I use the 9500 as my only E-mail device for all my mail-addresses, I get a lot of mail on it each day - some of which has HTML and pictures in it. To download all that over GPRS where I pay per Mbyte would cost quite a bit.

Instead I use WIFI to get the big "morning-chunk" of mail downloaded onto the device, and then check regurlarly during the day through GPRS or WIFI depending on whats available where I am. It works really well. 😊
