problem with network settings.....

When in TOOLS ----> Network Settings ---->Network Selection...... I try changing it from Automatic to manual and either get an endless 'searching' or 'no network found'

How can I get this to work right?

What setting do you have for Network Band Selection?

Set this manually to 1900 and see what happens then...

Did that already, same problem as above. What do I do or what does this mean?

It is set to 1900 since I am in the USA using T Mobile

have you tried going to a "known" good coverage area for t-mobile? i found while travleing the mid-west i-70 corridor i had problems hitting the t-mobile network when i wanted to "lock it in" manually where i would not roam. unless i was in a fringe area, this worked fine - but when i was in a not-so-good coverage area i could not get this to work.

hope this helps.

guess I will have to try that.

A general observation when roaming (and not just when using an X)

...sometimes network searches are very slow, and sometimes won't find the networks you want. I think it's something to do with the phone's SIM first having to find a network it is allowed to roam onto, then having a lengthy registration process with that network.

I had great problems when in Singapore a couple of years ago (using a Nokia phone), as I had been told I *HAD* to use one particular network. Every manual scan for it failed, yet if I let the phone scan automatically it would find another (different) network it was allowed to use and would then operate fine.

I've had this problem with mine too. The way to "fix" it is to switch to automatic and then back to 1900. on either one of them the bars will show up. If not restart the phone and then try the same thing.

Sorry, this does not work for me, and when I try, I get "System Error"

Anyone else have any other ideas?
