14 replies · 4,682 views · Started 11 July 2005

As I type this I am updating my OS X to iSync version 2.1

This update allows iSync to work with the Nokia 6630 and 6680 as well as a few others.

You can check the information about this new release on the Apple website.

I have to say I am now really happy as this is something alot of people have been waiting for and Apple have come through!!!!!

I will let you know how it works out!

OK -....... Can't tell you if it works because its Bluetooth only for Nokia phones and my iBook doesnt have bluetooth so until I actuall get a dongle can't say if it works....
Anyone else with OS X confirm if it does?

Built-in BT.

At my office I use Tiger and a 6630 with a cheap "noname" BT USB stuff and it works pretty well.
The 6630 doesn't seem to be hugly sensible to the BT stuff quality

I use OSX 10.3 to connect to my 6680 over BT and have never had any problems (except browse phone). I've never used iSync and I don't knnow why I would need to as I happily send images/mp3's e.t.c between my 6680 and my 12"Powerbook. However, I would like to be able to use some of the functions offered with the 'PC Suite' that comes with the phone but it is, of course, PC only.

How do I go about installing apps on my 6680 when the 'application installer' software is only available in te 'PC Suite'?

hee bassbot dude.. just use your built in bt program to send over .sis files that are symbian device installer files, and then it just go on itself.. the phone recognice that you have a sis file and starting to install it..

The reason most people are very very happy iSync has been updated is that it now allows full sync of your Mac Address Book and iCal with the phone. For some people this is an excellent feature and is the whole point of iSync.

one question about isync.. i am not so familiar with it, but i want to know if there is any possibility to sync from phone to computer.. if i changes a note or add a note into the calender with my 6680, can i somehow make ical receive these changes/adds??

why cant isync sync old ical notes, that have been added before up to date, example one thing that i have from the last week. ok, its not relevant, but i want it in my phone too!! it just syncs the details what happend from today and in the future, and not old time'..

were you able to send files to your laptop from your phone? i'm on 10.4.2 with a 6680, and iSync works fine, and i can send files to the phone using apple's bluetooth device/file browser, but i just can't send files (photos etc) from the phone to my laptop, either via the apple browser 'get' or selecting 'send via bluetooth' from the menus on the phone. it's really bugging me. have searched high and low to no avail...

Yep. You are right. You HAVE to update to 10.4 to get this to work. And when you have upgraded, you will see a dramatic increase in Sync speed. On my 6630 it only takes 5 seconds or so...

WOK

Just getting myself a 6680, did want to go for a N70 but heard and read its got a few more flaws than its predecessor. Ideally wanted an N71 but have to wait for that, so content to got for an older model phone.

I'm running 10.4 OSX and judging by all the replies, I shoud be able to get it to Sync with my iMac, using iSync 2.1?

Mainly want to send files by built in BT, but might also want to sync it with ical and address book.
