I finally got down to why I cant use MMS on my Online 200 contract, but can use GPRS Mobile Web, ie: TCPIP over GPRS.
Email from O2 Care:-
There are currently technical limitations which prevent us from
offering a suitable customer experience for someone who would like to
use O2's Mobile Web & Media Messaging services on one handset or device
using one SIM card. Consequently, we cannot offer both Mobile Web and
Media Messaging on one device (using one SIM card) at this time. A
solution is being developed which will form part of the next release of
O2's Media Messaging service. This release will allow O2 to offer
customers Media Messaging and Mobile Web services on one device using
one SIM card. We expect that this release will be available in Spring
2003.

After having a think, MMS and Mobile Web both use the same type of GPRS connection. If they allow your SIM to access MMS and Mobile web, they'd have a problem....they are offering free MMS until spring next year, so if your SIM has MMS and GPRS Mobile WEB, you'd be able to cruise for free....
at least thats what I think would happen. So I am barred from using the mmsc APN, but hey ho.... mobile web is free for me.
How hum, I must admit, MMS sounds nice, but most people I know have Email 😊
