Folder organisation lost

Probably it doesn't happen if applications are installed in the phone memory. It happens if they are on the memory card.

Yep, and that means i also loose my theme everytime i have to pop out the memorcard. I'm new to symbian, but it seems to me there must be a file or location where the phone keeps track of the dirictory organisation. Now if only i could find it 😡

I've had this problem too. I now turn off phone when I take out Memory card and on again when I've replaced it. No more problems. Fortunately don't do this often. I'd appreciate a different solution though. Keep us posted.

Do you wait while apps are closed before removing the card?

Yes, and after the message that it's safe to remove the card. I'll try the "power-down" workaround, but i hate to do that, it takes forever for the phone to startup..........

Edit: anyone have an idea where the phone keeps track of the directories?

My guess is that it's some kind of wierd software conflict. Have you tried with a couple of apps on a spare (smaller) card? That would help us diagnose the problem.

It all got unorganised to me once when I swapped to another 256MB card when my 6630 was switched off.

I guess that when you swap cards, the phone needs to be on and wait till all apps from that card are closed. Maybe in that proces it organises some stuff/temp files for that specific memcard.

I never had the "unorganised" problem again just by following the above procedures.

Good idea, but the problem still shouldn't happen. Symbian OS has always been quite good at scanning a card (either when first inserted or discovering it at power on) and working out what apps are around...

I'd still be interested on the outcome of the wipe and gradual rebuild tests....
