performance question about symbian programming

Hello folks,
let's say i wanna program a symbian application with a database in the background. the database is 11mb big, 82.000 records. How would there be the performance of such a tool?

Okey, another question is: is it possible to run a daemon on a symbian phone in the background? the action of the daemon would be to connect to a server over gprs from time to time or send a sms.
