Nokia 7650 & iPAQ

Hi,

I'm having troubles transferring files from my iPAQ to 7650 via infrared connection.

I am able to send images from 7650 to iPAQ and to use my 7650 as a GPRS modem with iPAQ, but sending files from iPAQ just simply fails (the ir sending utility just gives me error message "failed"😉.

Has anyone managed to get these two beauties work together? If so, then how?

TIA,

Keijo

Sometimes you could forget the obvious, did you enable IR in the 7650?

I mean, did you go to Connectivity then choose IR? and also the IR powers off after a number of seconds, only if it was recieving a file it doesn't.

Hope this helps!

The M$ IR stack in the iPaq doesn't completly follow the IRDA standard. It doesn't send a standard IR obex packet at the start, & the 7650 follows the IRDA standard strickly, and so it doesn't accept the incoming transfer from the iPaq.

But it'll work the other way round, 7650 transfer to iPaq because the iPaq will accept the standard, and the GPRS modem works because it doens't use obex for that that.

Thanks for the answers.

I managed to find a way to get around it by using Conduits' Peacemaker to send the files. So it's more or less only a software problem that perhaps could be fixed by patching the iPAQ's IR-driver (I think that's something what they did with 7110).
