A Few Questions on N6630 Apps and more..

Hey guys,

1. I deliberately reformatted the 64mb memory card of my new N6630, without even asking the retailer if its the right thing to do or not. Damage has been done and I lost a few pre-installed applications in my phone. Question: How do I reinstall QuickWord, QuickPoint and QuickSheet? I was able to install back into the phone the QuickOffice folder I downloaded from the Nokia website but I didn't see the 3 apps inside the folder. All the other lost apps like SettingWizard, Image Print and Wireless Keyboard were successfully reinstalled from the same website.

2. Is there a way to completely view all the files in both the phone memory and mmc? I was told there were hidden files.

3. What is really the highest-capacity dual-voltage rs mmc available in the market right now? The retailer told me that the highest is 256mb but they don't recommend it because many customers come back due to some hanging or bug problems. That leaves N6630 users with 128mb mmc max. capacity. Please confirm.

4. Is the N6630 battery really weak? The phone is great but I am not satisfied with the battery performance because I recharge it almost daily from the day I bought it a week ago, which I never experienced in my previous Sony Ericsson units.

Thanks and Mabuhay!

You can get the apps back by visiting the various Nokia sites and going to the 6630 specific pages. You might need to visit the Asia/Africa/Middle East variants of the Nokia sites to find everything, but they are there.

Get FExplorer to view the entire contents of your phone. It's freeware too.

I have a DV RSMMC in my 6680 and it's fine. 512's are also available and I hear they work just fine in the 6680, but I am not sure about the 6630.

Not sure about your battery problems. Nokia's have greatly improved in terms of battery life recently. Li-Ion cells work so much better than the old styles of batteries. Even my old 7650 can go a whole day without needing a recharge. You may have a faulty battery. Did you give it a full 14-16 hours charge when you bought it ?

Hope that lot helps.

A 512 DV RS MMC has been working perfectly fine in my 6630 for weeks. No problems at all.
Regarding battery life: being under UMTS coverage has much more effect on the battery life than any memory card!

Yep. If there is a 3G icon in the upper left corner, your battery life is half as long as in GSM networks.

Go to Settings, network, and switch off "Dualmode". The phone reboots without PIN. If you need UMTS, simply switch back.

Hi kenshin,

With regards to some of your queries like the battery life issue; I also experience that problem, i recharge my unit almost every night upon normal use. I think its better to use spare battery. Reformatting your mmc is risky since you will lose all your installed apps in the card, and yes you can see all the files including the hidden files and folders both on the phone and mmc by using FExplorer or SeleQ.

The seller said 4 hours only (first time charging).

By the way, before I forget thank you very much to you all for the very informative replies: the FExplorer, the effect of dual mode on battery life, etc.. best regards.

I had the same battery problem but it gradually builds up and after afew months it reaches its peak performance. Now it lasts me at least afew days. Weird apparently it has something to do with the battery type and the fact that 6630 is power thirsty.
