I have the full version for review, expect one soon...
Judging from another thread I wouldn't reccomend purchase of it if you use V3.12 just yet as there may be a bug in the program.
I'd wait a few days before buying it.
Having said that i'm running it on V3.16 with no problems at all, I think it's a very useful app 😉

Thanks man, appreciate it! Guess I'll be holding it off for a while then since I have v.3.12.
I have full version and running on 3.12 no problems whatsoever. Great application!
Since now, I bought 2 apps (eFileManager and WebViewer) but I will not EVER buy this app!!! :x
When I first read about this app, I believed that it will be something like the compression operation in WinNT or Win2k, which you compress a file or folder and it is still there in the Windows Explorer with a different color (usually blue). When you double click it, Windows decompresses it (in the background) and executes it.
With this app, when you compress ("Pack" in their terms) a folder that contains your app, it disappears the icon from your main screen!!!
To use your "Packed" file, you should use the SmartCompress utility to decompress ("Unpack"😉 the file or folder and then return to the main menu to use it! :-? It's self-evident that you should recompress it again after done.
If you find this useful, then excuse me... 😉

Yes there were some problems with v3.12 (for some hours only 😃 ), but we have already fixed it.
Anyway, our version can be tested for 15 days.
http://www.symbianware.com/download/scompress60/scompress60.sis
(already compatible with v3.12 :P )
Btw, the newer version will be available soon too (of course update will be free for all registered users)
I don't have a Nokia 7650, but a Revo+ which has a similar software, nArchive. It helps to have large docs and apps without uninstalling & installing them. For example, 12,3 MB of data and programs were reduced to 7,6 MB. So if you are wise, a 16MB machine can hold a lot files.

Yes but if you think about it this means that you can have more applications on your phone and just "Unpack" them when you want to use them.
Explain a bit further why this is such a bad thing to have on your phone? I don't understand why your so against it.
It's the application we've all been waiting for as far as I can see.
The 7650 has so many limitations memory wise this is a great solution.
Your comments?

I think the problem has nothing to do with your application it's more of a V3.12 problem.
If you have your memory REALLY full it gives you warnings and tells you to delete some data, if for instance you got a text or an MMS message it adds the data to the phone without any prompt from the user.
The OS needs so much memory to be able to run, and Nokia didn't leave enough of a "Buffer" so the OS could run safely.
When the memory gets this full your phone will crash and you will be unable to turn your phone on and delete some data as the OS won't start.
You have to do a hard reset (If you can make it to the main screen) to restore the phone to factory settings.
So if this is the case if you "unpack" an application when your memory is very full you will get this problem.
Thankfully in V3.16 Nokia sorted this problem.
I hope this makes sense, as I just rambled on for ages 😃

By this point of view, you are right. I shouldn't complain.
On the other hand, I would support and promote this app, only if worked like WindowsNT/2k compression, without dissapering icons (I almost had a heart attack!!!!)
P.S. I should change my nickname to "sniveller" or something, eh? 😃
I can't see that the disapearing icons makes too much difference, but it you could run the program in the background and click on the icon to "unpack" that would be a nice option but I wouldn't call it a problem.

i think,like this,the app.is perfect...
if they make it to complex, then it will be more kb.use.
I have no problems at all,to de/compress my T-Mobile/Bounce/Handy-book/file,if i need one of them.
And i save with only this 4apps.more then 250kb.
(i will even not use T-mobile/Bounce so much, and decompress its real fast done.)
So better optimize the version, like it is,then implantate more features.
(i have SW.3.12 and the new version works really fine and stabil.)
a very impressed Smi
I just tried Smart Compress and it totally f#cked up my Active Desk program(which I always keep running). And it was really frustrating not being able to see the icons ones they were compressed. I'm sorry but I did not like this program! Are there any other compress programs out there?
Btw, I have v3.12
Well maybe SmartCompress can instal that feature. At least for compressed programs ..
They could install shorcuts isntead of the actual programs which then autounpack the application so you could use it like normal 😊
Symbianware have been great with implementing suggestions of users .. so who knows 😊
New version planned very soon so who knows!
I c that mainly ppl with 3.12 have problems, what about u J2theIZZO? U got 3.16 haven't you? Did you have any of these problems?
My 7650 had v3.12 and smartcompress works fine...
Seems to work fine on mine too (3.12) 😃
just wonderin
what if
i hav around 300kb left and the files is packed
what will happen if i unpacked some the files and there is not enough memory??? is the prog gonna warn that the memory or it just crash with the memory full thingy ???
on 3.12 you are doomed!
on 3.16 you will probably get away with it!
Now .. u guys are scaring me!!
What exactly happens if there is not sufficient memory before we uncompress files?
Will it be anything like needing a reset 😮 or just a hang? (I'm gonna take the thing off if its gonna need a reset) :-?
Look, if you get this memory full message on the 3.12 then you might get to the main screen and will be able to delete some data! However, if the memory gets really full you have to reset the phone! This does not happen on the 3.16 though!
Hm....
Thanks Muffy. I think it should go off my phone for now, till there's a fix to it  It was a nice appl. though!

Yes i'm using 3.16, i'm not sure if the program will effect in this way, i'll explain a little better when i can find a pc.
