9500/9300 Contacts/Calendar Sync with Outlook

3 replies · 9,808 views · Started 02 August 2005

Like many others, I am having problems synchronising my calendar, tasks and contacts with Outlook. I have windows XP (SP2), Outlook 2000 and PC Suite 6.6 (laptop or 6.5 desktop - I have install problems with 6.6 on desktop).

At the moment, my only connection option is the USB data cable.

I have tried starting the synch from phone and 9500 with no success. I am rather confused by the different settings in PC Suite and on my 9500. I have scanned through the forum and am still unclear about the setup. I have tried adjusting these withiout success so far. I have identified the following fields that may have an imapct:

On the 9500

a) Synchronization / PC Suite profile / general
- profile name
- connection type
- Host address
- allow server alert
- accepted

b) Synchronization / PC Suite profile / user
- user name
- password
- confirm password
- HTTP authentication

c) Synchronization / PC Suite profile / contents / contacts
- local database
- remote database - what goes here if you have say "Contacts - RJP" in Outlook?
- synchronisation type

d) Synchronization / PC Suite profile / contents / calendar
- local database
- remote database
- synchronisation type

e) Device manager / PC Suite profile / profile settings / server
- server name
- server id (ghosted out on mine)
- pasword (ghosted out on mine)
- confirm password (ghosted out on mine)
- active
- accepted

e) Device manager / PC Suite profile / profile settings / connection (tab ghosted out on mine - don't know what the individual fields might be)

f) Device manager / PC Suite profile / profile settings / user
- user name
- password
- confirm password

g) Contol panel / Connections set up / cable setup / data cable mode

Nokia PC Suite

A) PC Sync / advanced / conflict resolution

B) PC Sync / advanced / Sync profile
- username
- password

c) PC Sync / Microsoft Outlook
- profile
- select folders / calendar
- select folders / tasks
- select folders / contacts

Would some kind person please publish a complete list of the settings they use for all these fields that works for them? Also please add any fields I have missed.

Thanks very much.....

Have you tried resetting your phone to factory settings (so you get everything back to how it was ?). Particularly with USB cable you dont have to mess around with any of the settings above, default settings should work.

Hi,
for sychronization with pc using DKU-2 cable is very easy.
1 install PC Suite (6.6) on ur PC
2 follow the steps ahead
3 connect the cable to pc & to handset
4 now pc will install the drivers for the handset automatically.
5 after all this ur pc will say 'your new hardware is installed and ready to use'.
6 now, open the PC Suite and click on Sync.
7 now select the outlook type and things to be synchronized by following simple steps in the pc itself.
8 At last it wil ask you to sync ur phone with the pc select yes and it will start synchronization.
if in any case or at any point of time u are not able to sync with ur pc. Open the pda of ur phone goto>>tools>>sync>>menu>>tools>>reset pc suite profile. & try again. if still not working then uninstall the pc suite and install it again after restarting ur pc.then try again it will work for sure.
byee.
Regards

After 3 to 4 synchronizations with my new 9300 two weeks ago week, i started to get persistent synch failure errors on my phone. I could not synch my phone with my notebook outlook.

I am planning to upgrade my cellphone sofware to 5.XX

But just tonight, I was finally able to synch by just using the contacts checked, then uncheked contacts and synch my calendar after. I guess there is just too many data to synch when both are checked and especailly when the time period configured for the calendar is 1 year timeframe or more.

Just the same i will upgarde my software and see if there will be no problems in the future. I just have to back-up all date to the MMC before the upgrade.
