6680: Seems very buggy.

I got a 6680 through O2 yesterday.

So far it seems very buggy. I keep getting out of memory warnings when running more than one app at once, something that never happened with my 6600.

Of the few applications and games I've installed so far that I used to have on the 6600 quite a few don't seem very compatible.

  • Sugatris
While it never worked entirely right on the 6600, (the colours were all wrong), however it was fast and dynamic and fun to play. On the 6680 the colours are still all wrong, but now I get two copies of the game on the screen filling the top left and right quarters. Its much to small to play now.
  • STris
Doesn't launch properly. Screen blinks the title and then returns to the menu.
  • SuperDropMania
Starts up and plays soundtrack, but nothing appears on the screen.
  • FreeNews
Didn't seem to download all the feeds, got stuck on one, seems slower and locks up more.
  • HandyReversi
    Works
  • FrozenBubble
    Works
  • ZingMagic Soduku
    Works

Has anyone had any success getting these applications to run?
Is there a nice version of Tetris people recommend for the 6680?

As I'm sure you realise, the apps looking wrong is simply that their developers haven't yet updated them to work with the new higher colour spec screen. Please contact the developers!

The memory thing is interesting. Games are notoriously memory hungry though, I normally only run one at a time. Other PIM etc apps can all be left running. And, of course, using 'Compress memory' in FExplorer always helps a little 8-)

Does this help you?
