Interne Browser - Passwords & Usernames

Hi There, I have a question about the www browser. I have a
home page on
my.yahoo.com. I tried making this my homepage on the
communicator's www
browser, but everytime I connect to it, it takes me to the
my.yahoo.com
log-in general page. Shortly, on the the my.yahoo general
log-in page, i select the
option to connect to my personal my.yahoo.com page automatically
everytime I choose my.yahoo.com, hoping that eveytime I connect to the web, the browser
would take me
directly to my own my.yahoo page(like on a normal PC). Well
it dosen't!!
Therefore, what I understand from this, is that the web
browser on the
communicator does not remember or comply with password
memorisation for
the internet. Am I correct in thinking this? Please
confrim, or otherwise
tell me how to overcome this problem please. Thanks in
advance, Andrea

I think I am correct in saying that the browser on the Communicator does not support JavaScript at all. The most common way of the web site "memorising" your username and password is by creating a cookie on your computer through JavaScript. Seems like Yahoo uses this method, otherwise the Comunicator browser does not support cookies either.

No solution.<font size=-1>[ This Message was edited by HotIce on 2002-01-09 0855 ]</font>

It's not so much the javascript, as I've seen and used java and javascript on my communicator, the problem is more likely to do with how the communicator deals with its cache and storage of cookies. I'm guessing (but I don't know for sure), that it will store these things while online, but erase them afterwards so as not to waste the valuable space.

Flipside, please tell me how you have used JavaScript. I just created a web page containing some scripting to test whether it works. A simple alert does not even work on the communicator browser.

Otherwise, what ever happened to the Opera browser that was under development? It was supposed to support it.<font size=-1>[ This Message was edited by HotIce on 2002-01-12 0103 ]</font>

The can't remember what site I was looking at, maybe it didn't use javascript, must have been something else. Was a simple thing though for animating a picture. May have used something else.

The browser generally has full support for Javascript except things like alerts and popups that effectively require a new window. The date the top right of this site is JavaScript.

Oh yes, and I forgot to say that places like Yahoo sometimes give problems because they only support certain browsers.
