Bluetooth Question ?

15 replies · 3,406 views · Started 10 November 2002

I am considering going to Bluetooth and getting rid of that awful IR connection 😊

Can anyone answer me these 2 Q's please ...

Where is the cheapest Bluetooth kit to buy for my PC in the UK and what kit is it ?

Secondly I know Bluetooth can go up to 10 metres ( I think ) but is it restricted by Walls / Doors ! As I have my Amp in my lounge connected to PC and if i get the kit to use Bluetooth I would like to be able to remote control it from my lounge ( Directly Below ) using Bemused but obviously i have a ceiling / floor in the way and want to know if it will work or not ?

Cheers folks

Question 1 - Look around on ebay and pay no more than 35

Question 2 - Yep, it WILL work 😃

I bought MSI BT in my country for around 30 pound.

I used to test MSI BT range of connection in the open air more than 10 meters with no problem. For sure that the range would be reduced if there is any object in between. In your case, I think the distance is around 5 meters and the cieling/floor isn't made of steel plate. It should be okay.

What country? where do you live anuvat,i want a bluetooth adapter (MSI's tranceiving key if possible) !!!! does anyone know of a website that exports internationally,i know this must be out of place, but i'm desperate.
Thanks.

Palendrone - I do exactly what you are suggesting with Bemused, and it works fine. I've got an MSI Bluetooth transceiving key, which has a range of up to 100 metres.

It depends if you have a class 1, class 2 or class 3 device. Class 1 devices have a range of 100 metres, class 2 (which most phones are) have a range of 10 metres.

Uhh my experience.. i don't think it's 100m. In fact, in an office environment, it's only less than 10m.

I use it in my office everyday.. if there are less machines around (pc or servers) it can transmit further.
MSI Bluetooth Tranceiving key!

www.scan.co.uk for about 35
I second that and if you get the MSI BT Key, you have the added advantage of all the helpful posts from MaleBuffy explaining how to get it working! 😉
