About the backlight

Hi there all you good forum-friends!

I have a question 'bout the screen backlight;
Does it exist(or could it be made) an app that lets me keep the backlight lit for as long as I like? The reason I'm in need of this is cause I use my 7650 to read books(Handy Book app). I really enjoy this app cause it lets me download lots of free books to read in a compressed size, but the frustrating part is the backlight turning off every few seconds.

So please share your expertise on this matter good ppl! 😃

Thanks.

There is a program called Torch.....do not ask where to find it please because I cant remember! I think is from the person who developed Bemused...so I guess it will be on his site!

A I forgot, the thing with this app is that it makes your 7650 a toch, BUT if you leave it in the background.......and run the book reader thing...the creen will stay on as lond as torch runs! 😊

Jepp! 😃
Already installed it and it was just what I was looking for! If anyone else needs it, here it is(and it's freeware) http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~ashley/

@Raven: Which ebook-reader do you use? I only know of Handy Book, but 15$ is a bit too much for an ebook-reader, imho...

Hi!
Yes, I use Handy Book, and I actually think $15 is a fair price considering there is a decent selection of e-books out there and they are all free.... 😊

I still hope Palm releases a port of PalmReader for Series60 (not so unlikely, there's also a version for PPC - really scary when a big Palm-logo shows up on an Ipaq 😃).

Their PalmReader Pro is really a great PalmDoc-Reader and the standard-version is free!

How's the featureset of Handy Book? Does it support chapters, links, inline-graphics?

Hehe...nope. It's just a simple, small app for reading doc files. I don't know if the full version is any different though... I cannot seem to figure out how to change the font, but I guess it works in the full version. Other than changing the font style and writing style, I don't think there are any additional features. Here's a link to some of the e-books available http://www.epocware.com/Nokia_7650/Handy_Book/articles/eBook_Library.html

Perhaps you already know but there are some nice PalmDOC conversion utilities. I personally use Aportis Doc Converter, there's also a test-version available. It's a very simple drag&drop-app that converts a lot of well-spread document-types like txt, html, Word, PDF. The results aren't breathtaking, but you get your PalmDOCs in a minute and they are definitely very readable. The converter is available from http://www.aportis.com/.
